WINTERS – Marilyn Dawn, 72, of Liverpool, passed away March 2nd, 2021 in Queens General Hospital.
Born in Pugwash, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Arthur and Marguerite Wamback.
In Marilyn’s earlier years, she spent her days working for the Teddy bear Express and Make-A-Wish Foundation bringing smiles to the faces of many.
She and her husband, Joe, had a great love for travel and saw many parts of the world with New Orleans being their favourite to visit. She had always said how thankful she was for the things she saw and experienced in her lifetime.
Marilyn had many passions with some being her love of folk art as Joe was a great artist, eating ice cream, cats, spending many days in Frenchy’s, being silly, collecting anything Betty Boop, the dance ceremonies of the Funky Witches and Beach Meadows Beach which Marilyn considered her “happy place”.
Marilyn will always be remembered for her spunk, free spirit, her compassion, colourful hair and mostly as the lady who drove the pink Hummer.
Marilyn is survived by by her sister Diane DeBaie of Petticodiac, NB; her brother Lorne Wamback of Dartmouth; her niece Tammy (Joe) Colburn of Fordland, Missouri. Her chosen daughter Danielle (Lance) Slauenwhite of Brooklyn, her special little girl Cali Slauenwhite and her very good friend Faye Levy of Brooklyn. Marilyn will also be missed by many friends she considered family and her beloved fur babies.
Besides her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Joe, the love of her life and her step son Terry.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Due to COVID-19, a proper funeral service will be held at a later date. Family and friends will be notified at that time. Please make donations to Integrity’s Haven Equine Resource Centre, Chester Basin. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
Special thanks to Drs. McKinnon and Gowan, Natalie Brooks and the nurses on Queens General Medical floor for their loving care given to Marilyn throughout her illness.

To Marilyn’s friends and Family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I got to know Marilyn and Joe quite well when I worked at the Sherman Hines Museum & Art Gallery – we carried some of Joe’s folk art. May you find comfort in memories of Marilyn, and the knowledge that she was a much loved member of our community

From the Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival…Lunenburg, NS

Marilyn & Joe were a force to be reckoned with when the arrived at the Festival in August each year. Both contributed to the upbeat atmosphere of the event.. Marilyn came for several years after Joe died “to help out” and so she did.
We..the management committee of the NSFAF..are saddened to hear of her passing. The South Shore is has lost a bit of its energy & colour upon hearing this news…We shall all recall the fun and spirit she brought to our event.
SUE KELLY, on behalf of the artists and friends of the NSFAF.

Condolence from Nancy Wilson on March 5th, 2021 4:33 pm

My connection with Joe and Marilyn first began through folk art. It didn’t take long to become a friend with this couple who embraced life. Marilyn lost a dear friend after Joe’s passing but didn’t give up the spirit to celebrate life. Here spirit, her force, her compassionate nature will be missed.
