Whynot; Walter Steven

Posted By Obits On June 4, 2017 @ 4:45 pm In Obituaries | 94 Comments

Walter (Wally) Steven Whynot, 48, of Gull Island lost his very short but courageous fight with Cancer on May 31, 2017 in Queens General Hospital with his devoted family by his side and the love of his life in his arms.
Wally was born on July 1, 1968 in Liverpool to St. Clair & Janet (Freeman) Whynot.
Wally worked with the Chronicle Herald for 13 years doing deliveries. Wally loved his job but loved the people he got to meet and talk to everyday more. Wally had a love for hunting, fishing, four wheeling & just being in the woods and outdoors. But most of all he loved spending all of his time with his family & friends. Wally had a rough exterior but had a heart of gold. Wally was well known for lending a helping hand to anyone that needed it and for having the “gift to gab” to everyone he met up with.
Wally is survived by his loving wife Terra-Anne (Gibson), daughters Kayleigh Dawn (at home), Kelsie Rose Keans (Ottawa) and Gabe Steven (at home). Siblings Joseph (Patty) of Middlewood, Corina (Willis) Huphman of Mersey Point and Tanya (James) Grant of Milton, Father in law Michael Gibson Senior, brother in law Michael Gibson Jr. Liverpool. Nephews Ryan (Tiffany) Whynot, Brandon Grant, & Michael Gibson 3rd. Nieces Natasha (Adam) Zinck, Brittany (Clayton) Barker and Abbigale Grant. Great neice Autumn Zinck. Numerous Uncles and Aunts including his special Uncle Peter and Aunt Joan Whynot. Also many many friends that Wally considered his family.
Wally was predeceased by paternal grandparents Reginald & Marion (Wagner) Whynot, Maternal grandparents Allan & Ruth (Boland) Freeman, Mother in law Becky (Brewster) Gibson.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. There will be no funeral service at Wally’s request. Donations may be made to the Queens County Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com

Don’t grieve for me, for now I am free
I turned my back and left you all.
I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way, I’ve found that peace at the end of the day.
If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah, yes, these things I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life’s been full, I savoured much, Good friends, good times, my loved one’ touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart because now I am free.

Terra & Family,

It saddens me deeply to be writing this condolence. As best friends and through all of our late night chats at our many sleepovers, not once did this ever come up as part of our “life plan”. Life is just simply not fair. Wally was a good man and he definitely found a good, loving wife. Together you created two beautiful children who will carry on many memories of your lives together.
I love you all like family. You know to call on me for anything.
Sending all of our love.
Kim, Joe, Sadie & Harrison

Janet, Clair, Joey, Corina, Tanya and families,

Please accept my sincerest condolences. It is always tough to say goodbye but is much harder when you were given such a short time to do so. I have lots of memories of Wally from the past 35 years or so. I’ll admit, I was a bit scared of him for a while until I got to know the real Wally. He just loved to torture us girls! I will always smile when I think of him.

Take care and hold on to all of those memories.

Dear Terra & Families,
I Am So Sorry For The Loss Of Such A Great Guy. Terra I Can’t Imagine The Pain That You Must Be Going Through. Wally Was A Wonderful Person Who Had Such A Big Heart. I Loved To Wait On Wally At The Sobeys Grocery Store, You Just Never Knew What He Was Going To Say. But He Sure Knew How To Bring A Smile To Your Face. He Was Always Joking And Always Stopped To Talk To Me When He Came In. There Was Never A Time When Wally Came Through Me That He Didn’t Mention About You Terra And His Children . He Sure Was Proud To Have You In His Life. The Love For You Sure Showed In His Face And His Choice Of Conversation. God Must Have Needed A Special Angel Because He Sure Got One. Cherish All Your Very Special Moments That You Both Had Together As I Can See From The Pictures There Are Many.. . Keep These Very Special Moments Close To Your Heart As They Will get You Through Some Very Difficult Days Ahead!!!! May God Bless You And Your Children And May God Wrap His Loving Arms Around You To Start The Healing.
Peggy Ann Freeman Payzant.

Condolence from Howard & Chalotte Callahan on June 6th, 2017 1:18 pm

To Wally’s family,
For the five months we spend at our cottage in Port Mouton, Wally had delivered our weekend paper. If he happened to see us out in the yard, he backed up; rolled down his window and had time for a chat with us – always with a smile and a friendly demeanor. And at no time had he ever said a bad word about anyone. It’s strange how someone, whom you’ve encountered on only a few occasions, can leave such a warm and lasting impression. We understand that the family meant the world to Wally. It’s sad he was taken so soon. Please accept our deepest sympathy.
