WHYNOT – Joyce Olive, Brooklyn, Queens County, NS
It is with great sadness the we announce the passing of Joyce Olive Whynot, 67, of Brooklyn, Queens County, NS in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 with her daughter by her side.
Born in Liverpool, Joyce was the eldest daughter of the late Herbert Jr. and Emma (Fisher) Whynot.
Joyce dedicated her life raising her children and providing a loving, caring home. She was warm and full of hugs and kisses. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and she was a very loving and involved nanny. She always wanted them close. Her home was full of love.
Family was her life. She was encouraging, inspiring, compassionate and very proud of her family. Joyce loved her cats Maggie and Pearl very much. She also loved puzzles, shopping and spent many years travelling with her best friend Wanda Westhaver. They had so many fun adventures and when they go separated, one yelled Marco – the other Polo to find each other then laughed together. Joyce had a spunky, fun personality and you never knew what she would do; break out dancing in a parking lot to singing silly songs. She had such a contagious laugh.
If there is one word that could describe Joyce, it would be love. She opened her heart and home to many over the years and gave them a safe place. She treated and loved them like her own, her heart was that big and she had so much love to give.
Joyce spent much of her childhood with her beloved grandmother, Olive, a very important woman in her life and many memories were made in her grandparents’ home in Southwest Port Mouton.
Joyce is survived by her loving companion and husband of 47 years, James Wolfe; her daughter Jill Wolfe of Truro, sons Ashley Whynot (Sandi Blackwood) of Terrance Bay, Todd of Red Deer, AB. Her grandchildren Brayden (Carly) Swain and Olivia Whynot (Riley), both of Halifax; Zackary Croft (Breeanna) of Milton, Kennedy Croft (Darius) and Bradley Croft, both of Truro. Her great granddaughter Peyton. Her sister Laura (Wade) Oickle of Wellington, PEI. Her niece Candace Rhyno and her great niece Zoey Clattenburg and great nephew Dawson Clattenburg.
Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her sister Julieanne Whynot; her brothers David and Jimmy Whynot and her niece Brooke.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Milton Community Cemetery. No flowers, but Joyce did request that you share a hug for her instead. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com
Thank you to all the nurses at Queens general hospital for providing the compassionate care during Joyce’s final days.
“It’s not goodbye; it’s see you later. I love you forever and a day”

Words cannot express my deep sadness over the passing of Joyce. She was a huge part of my life for many years and was always there for us, no matter the situation.
To Ashley, you were her soul son, her love for you was endless. To Jill, you were her rock, and you were there when she needed you most. To Jimmy, you were her life companion, to the end.
And to her grandkids, you were the loves of her life and she beamed with pride at your every accomplishment.
I am thankful that I was able to visit with Joyce one last time recently. I had not seen her in the past few years but it felt like I had literally been there yesterday. That was her gift, she always made you feel welcomed, special and loved. She will be greatly missed by so many and I am grateful for her presence in my life. Rest In Peace Joyce, love you.

Very heartbreaking to hear this sad news! There are no words to make you feel better and I do want you to know how much I enjoyed every time I served you, your children and your dad and mom at the restaurant. She was such a wonderful lady and we always had such great talks. My heart goes out deeply for your dad as well as the rest of you. No one could ever love their children or grandchildren any more than your mom did and most of our talks were about that. Her eyes would just light up when I would always ask her about Bradley, which made me go take care and know you are in so many people’s hearts. Hugs
