Vaughn was an absolute museum of information and he helped me immensely with my local Black History unit. He had the most wonderful pictures and stories. I sat with Vaughn for many hours recording his information on Tiger Warrington, etc.,and copying pictures which were nothing short of amazing! I was the one being taught! I do hope those pictures will be passed down for posterity to be preserved and learned from. I always had a lot of regard for Vaughn for being so willing to help me.
Lorne and I send our deepest condolences to Ellie and all the extended family.

To all of Vaughn’s family:
Vaughn and his family lived just two houses down from ours, his on Waterloo and ours on College St. I knew his Mom and Dad well, lovely people, and some of his younger brothers and sisters. As he was older I didn’t see him much, but when he started coming to Zion, we got to talk about some old times. His father and my Dad, Reg, were great buddies and often hunted rabbits together, along with Frannie Mouzar. Oh, the stories I have heard from those trips.
Sending sincere condolences to Ellie and the rest of the family at this difficult time.

My condolences to Eleanor and her children and all of Vaughn’s brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Being some 14 years younger than Vaughn, he was more of a mythic figure to many of us younger kids; his prowess in sports, no matter the sport, and his larger than life personality. We knew of his work on as a conductor and I suspect he helped make the long train trip to Montreal and back and beyond a comfortable and memorable journey for many a traveller. He added to the town by his returning after so many years and another life away in Montreal. I enjoyed a good chat with him during the wonderful LRHS Reunion in 2006 and got to witness his laughter and feel the warmth of his personality. He was the eldest of one of Liverpool’s most remarkable families, as set an example for his five younger brothers and sisters. Earl Sr. and Rhoda did a remarkable job in raising such a talented and good family, and it began with Vaughn. A life well lived and respected by many.
