Remembering Sue: Our childhood friendship, waiting for Sue at her home in the mornings and walking from Glenwood Street to the Milton school for eight years. The birthday parties, and walking home from school singing children songs. Her singing for me Yellow bandanna, a song I didn’t know but one she taught me. Our teenage antics, school dances, We did not see each other in the later years but I visited her in the hospital when her first child was born. It Did not matter how many years would go past, when we met, there was always a hug and a smile of the times we shared together. I wish that I could have seen and talked to her one more time but I did not know. Forever in my Memories. You deserve to rest.

I had not any contact with Susan over many years .However when I taught her in Grade One there was something that I remember so well. She was one of the best readers I ever had. She read so many little books that she was always prepared to read another story to the class. These would be books that she learned and read at home first. . Not many students you remember like I did with Susan. SO sorry I didn’t see her as of late but sending condolences to family who lost her at such an early age

To Sue’s Family,
Your mother was always a special person to spend some time with. I can remember stopping for gas at Wilfred’s on a Sunday afternoon not because I really needed gas but I was looking forward to a chat and a few laughs with Sue.
She really got it, was an exceptional volunteer and community supporter, and one of those people who gave you a boost every time you had the good fortune to spend a few minutes with her.
I can still hear you laughing Sue,

I was very surprised and saddened to learn of Susan’s death. My fond memories of her take me back to the 1965/66 school year, my first year of teaching, when I was so very fortunate to have this clever, talented little girl in my grade four class at the Milton school.( Sadly it burned the following year.) In more recent years I got to catch up with her a bit at the Kempt suppers where she was generously giving her time and energy to serve her community. I didn’t know that she was ill. To all her family, please know that am thinking of you all as you grieve the loss of your special loved one.

With love and sympathy to Susan’s family,
Susan and I grew up and went to School together right here in Milton, N.S. and I always enjoyed being around her. She was a barrel of fun and a good friend. The years went by and before we knew it, I was married (and since Larry’s job meant that we moved around for several years, living in parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia before finally moving back home to Milton once again Susan and I lost touch with each other.) That is until one day when we were driving home from our son Jonathan’s wedding in Church Point, Digby County and blew a tire on our car. This happened on a Sunday afternoon and there weren’t very many garages open. Thankfully, we were almost to Caledonia and Larry knew almost everyone there and so he was able to get us to a little garage and store, in order to borrow some tools that he needed to get the tire changed, while I waited for him inside the Store. Imagine my surprise and delight when I found out that Susan was working in the Store/Gas Bar that day! We had a wonderful time of catching up with each other’s lives. I was especially happy to hear that Susan had accepted the Lord and was actively involved in the Kempt Baptist Church. Larry and I had also accepted the Lord in 1976 and so we rejoiced together – and I know that when the Lord calls us home, we will rejoice once again with Susan. In the meantime, I realize that this is a big loss for Susan’s family and I would like you all to know that my love and prayers are with you. Sue won’t be forgotten – she made this old World a happier place with her kind ways and her great sense of humour. God be with each one of you at this sad time in your lives.
Sincerely, Larry and Lynn (Kempton) Lowe
