The spirit of Isabel Bertha Weagle, 61, was “set free to be with her Lord” on Monday, January 25th, 2021 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. In her “final” healing she has no further need for walkers, wheelchairs, pills, needles, tubes, operations or hospitals. The Great Physician has healed her of every pain and made her whole!
Though her physical disabilities could have been a deterrent in living life to the fullest, they were no match for her determined, strong and resolute spirit, that enabled her to seize life and treasure every moment. Born with one of the worst cases of scoliosis documented in Nova Scotia and in a tiny petite frame, this “force to be reckoned with” – played baseball with friends and drove her bicycle from Danesville to Mill Village Irving garage to work, so she could save money to buy a car. She also worked at the Irving garage in Italy Cross and Shell station in Bridgewater. “Never scared to attempt anything”, Isabel also worked in a Tree Yard at Hebbville, shearing Christmas trees, hauling and baling trees, and even loading trees on trucks to be shipped to the USA. A bit of an entrepreneur, she was co-owner with Judy Johnson at “Tradewinds Tanning Salon” in the 1990’s. Her latest job (less than three years ago) was “cleaning”- whether it was in people’s homes, doctor’s offices or for businesses.
With a fun loving spirit she’d dress in her own “hat”, “shirt” and “cowboy boots” to go line dancing. She loved to attend music jams and play cards and let’s not leave out her ability to talk on the phone! Her playful manner and quick wit kept you on your toes!
What endeared her to so many, was her Christian faith, which was unshakable! Growing up in the Danesville United Church she helped clean the sanctuary, helped with Christmas concerts, served faithfully as a Session member and enjoyed fellowship and fundraising with the Danesville Ladies Group.
In the last number of years she was active at Wesley United Church, Petite Riviere where she faithfully worshipped, was a member of the United Church Women and passionately supported Sherbrooke Lake Camp, so that children and youth could attend camp during the summer months. She loved to host Bible Study and welcomed all in her home for genuine fellowship and lots of fun!
With the assistance of hand controls in her car, Isabel was able to enjoy her independence. Even as she transitioned to one cane and then eventually using two canes, she travelled wherever she wanted . . . inspiring ALL who met her! Her Christian faith led her beyond the local church ministry throughout the South Shore (as a Presbytery Representative), and as an annual delegate to the Maritime Conference meeting held at Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick. Striking up a conversation with others came naturally to Isabel and as a result, life-long friendships were formed. Many have remarked, “it’s unreal what Isabel could do!” Once you met her – you never forgot her!
Though the last two and one half years have been challenging with her mobility, Isabel’s determined spirit continued to shine through. She and her friend, “Normie”, brought into reality an attachment and ramp for the back of her SUV and then purchased a smaller motorized wheelchair that could be easily folded and transported. Her friend and neighbour, Patsy Johnson, was Isabel’s main caregiver in this time and was faithful to take her to appointments, run errands, or just go and have fun with friends! Isabel treasured the love and support of many other friends in the community and also her larger faith community whom she’d refer to as her “church family”. With such faithful support from her special friends, she was able to remain at home until the last week of her life. In her passing, Isabel was blessed with the presence and peace of God. We will miss her dearly but know the gift of eternal life with her Lord is now hers to celebrate!
Isabel is survived by her sisters Rose (Carson) Robar of North River and Peggy (Real) Ribard of Waterford, ON. Her brother John of Bridgewater.
Besides her parents Frank and Mary (Archibald) Weagle, Isabel was predeceased by her infant sister Nora.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A service to celebrate Isabel’s life will be held at Wesley United Church, Petite Riviere, on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Vivian Moores, officiating. Burial will be in Croft’s Cemetery, Danesville at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Wesley United Church, 22 Drew’s Hill Road,Petite Riviere, Nova Scotia B4V 5Z8. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.

I met Isabelle about 4 years ago . She picked up my mom in law Elisabeth and I for my first fund raising and bake sale in Petite’s church .

To Rose, John, Peggy and all of Isabel’s extended family and friends . . . .
As I wrote in the obituary – Isabel is “set free” and the Great Physician has given her final healing.
For this we are thankful – even in the midst of our own personal loss and sorrow.
So many incredible words have been used to describe her beautiful spirit that thought “of others first”. The love of God that abided in her heart poured out freely to others and many have been blessed because of her.
She was one of the faithful I could count on in the church – to always be there through the ups and downs. Her commitment to Christ never wavered, and I was blessed to witness the growth of her faith over the years as she answered the invitation to “seek and find” Jesus in a more personal way. She re-dedicated her life to Christ and loved the family feeling and fellowship of her faith community.
She had a playful and mischievous nature yet at the same time spoke her mind in sincerity and truth.
.
I loved her dearly as a parishioner and as a friend. Our “heart to heart” talks about life and God – and our intimate times in the quiet of her home or in hospital as we prayed – will be cherished memories I will always hold dearly.
The time of her departure has come on earth – – – – but her experience of eternity with her Lord has just begun!
Heaven is now much more attractive – because Isabel is there! Until then . . . .

Isabel with all the disadvantages life had given you, you were the envy of many people who wondered where you got your energy and drive to do the things you did. You didn’t complain about your disadvantages but met them head on and never allowing them to win over your determination to live your life to the fullest by working, having fun and enjoying the people and things that meant the most to you. So many people could learn so much from you and what you did with the card that was given to you at birth. Good for you Isabel. You did it and you were force to be reckoned with when you set your mind to something. But now Isabel after your days of work that have been so very well done is behind you, it is time for you to take a well deserved rest. And if your soul should venture back on this earth again I hope that you will not have any disadvantages like you had on your previous journey though life. So Isabel rest so when that happens you will come back stronger and with more energy. The world may not be ready for you when that happens.
I as well as so many other people will miss seeing you but we know that you are free of pain now.
Steve and colleen
We extend deepest sympathy to Isabel’s family and friends she will be greatly missed.
