Von Sarnowski, Waltraud “Trudy” 89, of Hunt’s Point, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens Manor, Liverpool on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
Born in Oranienburg, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Packer Fritz and Helen Geborene (Wojczyk) Raschdorf.
Trudy was a contributing writer for Reader’s Digest for many years.
Trudy was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was predeceased by her husband Leo in 1997
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the White Point Community Cemetery. Donations in Trudy’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Mrs. von Sarnowski was a lovely and kind lady. I looked forward to our conversations when I worked at the Hunt’s Point Post Office several years ago.
She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Trudy was a true lady.I looked after her husband when I worked VON AND LATER SHE WAS A CLIENT OF MINE WHEN I HAD MY OWN BUSINESS.I always enjoyed my visits with her in her home in White Point Trailer Park.She will be missed by many.
I met Trudy at the Manor and enjoyed our conversation. She was a polite and interesting lady.
