VERGE – Cora Janet, 72, of Broad River, Queens County, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
Born in Halifax, Cora was a daughter of the late Charles “Leo” and Thelma (Boutilier) Beaver.
Cora worked at fish plants and helped to build the West Queens Recreational Centre. She enjoyed Hallmark movies, CSI, bingo scratch tickets, gardening, road trips and Christmas shopping. She was a very vocal person; the life of any party and family get together and she taught her family how to save money. Cora loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was everyone’s rock and she could be counted on to keep a secret!
Besides her husband of 51 years, Thomas, Cora is survived by her daughters Dawn Boutilier of Halifax, Lisa Roberts of Port Mouton, Penny Lloyd of Port Mouton and Peggy Burgess of Lunenburg. Her son Robert (Danielle) of Milton. Her grandchildren: Josh, Cole, Aaron, R.J., Jade, Mya, Crystal, Brandon, Corrina (Nic), Jacob, Hannah, Keigan, Riley, Neavah, Makenna (Reggie), and Jayden (Holly). Her great grandchildren: Felix, Chantel, Kayden, Addison and Noah. Her sisters: Twin Carol (Norman) Morash of Dartmouth, Vina (John) Collins of Parrsboro, Gladys (Jerry) Brooks of Hatchet Cove. Her brother Leon (Anne) of Halifax.
Besides her parents, Cora was predeceased by her sisters Gail, Peggy, Pearl, Brenda and her brother Barry.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A celebration of Cora’s life will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at West Queens recreational Centre on Riverhead Road, Port Mouton. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. No flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com
