You might not think that Barrie is thought of out here in Vancouver, but he is! Who could forget that smile, that sense of humour and that readiness to try anything. “We’ll find what works, Mark!” And he did! No problem getting a work crew, he had so many friends. At the drop of a hat, you had a crew of six and the roof was done! When a 100 foot pine crashed into the top of that old house in Grafton in the middle or winter, Barrie was there! That old house still stands and Barrie is a big reason for its existence. But apart from that, Barrie was a great friend to many and loved by so many. Barrie would help you out wherever and whenever. He embodied the best of North Queens. He helped make it a special place. He was a great Nova Scotian, the kind of person who makes everyone around the world want to come to Canada. Yes, Barrie is remembered out here as far away as Vancouver. When I look across the bay and up at those mystic mountains, I like to think of Barrie. It makes me have faith in the goodness of people. I was shocked by Barrie’s passing and Letizia and I extend our sincerest and deepest condolences to his wife and to all his family at this very sad time.
