Theakston;

THEAKSTON – Robert “Bob” Eugene 80, of Greenfield, Queens County.
Mom (Freda) welcomed Dad into heaven on January 19, 2015.
Born in Greenfield, he was son of the late Major Gordon and Evelyn Hughena (Hunt) Theakston.
He told us his greatest accomplishments were his children, Jeff, Jennifer (Andrew) Moir and Jamie. He loved to talk about his granddaughter Alexandra Moir and the beautiful harp he made for her to use in Music Therapy work. Serving in his church, Greenfield Baptist, singing in the choir, doing work in the community and helping out wherever needed made him happy. Mom and Dad worked side by side building their own houses and cottages and Dad was very proud of each and every one. Before retirement, Dad worked at CBC Halifax as an audio technician and then technical producer on many shows including Don Messer’s Jubilee and Singalong Jubilee. He enjoyed reliving these days with whomever would listen. He was a kind and hard working man and will be greatly missed!
No visitation or service per Dad’s request.
We would like to thank Pastor Wade, Doug, Shirley and Marilyn for their unending love and support.
Donations may be made to the Greenfield Baptist Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com

Condolences for the family of “Theakston; Robert Eugene”

Condolence from Valerie and Donald Inness on January 19th, 2015 4:47 pm

Dear Theakston Family:
Families have gotten so much bigger with each generation one doesn’t get to meet the off springs of distant cousins. Bobby was the second cousin of my mother. Her mother was a Hunt. We would visit Greenfield when we were young, but didn’t get to meet Bobby until much later in life. He was a very handsome gentleman. I hope you will find peace in the memories you have made with your Dad and may they live on in your hearts and minds.
Distant Cousin
Valerie Leslie Inness

Condolence from Linda Freeman on January 20th, 2015 8:44 am

Bobby T will be missed by us all. He was our Mr Fix-it, Go-to kinda guy and enjoyed helping out where he could, esp. with the sound systems in the hall and church. I will miss his smiles and winks, having him in the choir with his great tenor voice and at meetings where he always handled the repair and troubleshooting issues. The only consolation is that he is now with his beloved ‘Toots” in heaven.

He spread this pride across several organizations in the area including our music boot camp where he tirelessly offered his talents and knowledge for the past 7 years. I will greatly miss sharing stories of audio mishaps and learning from his well qualified counsel. To so many, his legacy will be that of a simply excellent and neighbourly man, who got involved and helped out whenever called upon or saw a need. Condolence from Pam Matthews on January 23rd, 2015 5:15 pm

Dear Jennifer,Jamie and Jeff,
I was saddened to read of your Dad’s passing and am so sorry for your loss. My late Mom was your Dad’s aunt, being a half sister to your grandfather Gordon.Your Dad was always “Big Bob ” to my two brothers and me, as opposed to “Little Bob “his younger uncle. . Although he was older than us, by a few years ,your Dad allowed us to follow him around and patiently showed us the “highlightrs” of Greenfield, where we spent some time on summer vacations
I hope you three will stay close and look after each other, every parent’s wish after they are gone.
“Memories of the ones we have loved still cast their gentle glow to grace our days and light our paths wherever we may go.

Many fond memories over many years from early days babysitting Jennifer and Jeffrey on Elm St, to sharing the pioneering days together with Bob at CBHT, to videotaping Jennifer’s wedding. I admired Bob’s expertise as sound engineer; he was truly one of the best. I will remember Bob in music — every time I hear Catherine MacKinnon’s rendition of “Farewell to Nova Scotia”. I will miss Bob on my regular visits to Greenfield…….in the choir, in the soundbooth, keeping an eye on the fitness centre. He was always to be found lending a hand wherever he could, fixing whatever needed to be repaired. Recent years were not so kind to Bob, may he now rest in peace. My sincere condolences to his family and friends…..he will be missed.
