Our sincerest sympathies to all of the family. Brian was remembering the first time he met your Mom. Alice brought her and her sister to his apartment. They wanted to lay down and have a nap so they laid down on his bed which was a waterbed/. When your Mom
got up she said, well I sure never thought I would end up sleeping in a waterbed at a bachelor’s apartment! We always
enjoyed our visits with her when she came to B.C.
Pamela Ditchoff Saint John Ambulance Therapy Dog Team
It was a real joy in my life to know Harriet and to visit with her every other Saturday with my dog Phoebe, and then Willy. What we loved most about Harriet: Her smile and “good morning” when we walked into her room. The way she always dressed like a real lady. The decorations on her walls and photos of family. Her stories about growing up here, her children and all her grands and greats. Her room was filled with family love. It was also a real joy to view the video so beautifully honouring an beautiful life.

My thoughts of all of your family are with each of you today, and indeed this world has a big hole to fill to replace her. How happily I recall how Hattie would welcome us into your home as young teens and put up with us playing cards and games with lots of noise (and protests as well), especially during the long winter months in White Point. I also remember how the “teacher” in her helped us to ceate those paraffin yule logs at Christmas by whipping up the wax (and her gently telling us not to pour it down the drain just because it was liquid). How she ever listened to us trying to play that organ – well, she was a very patient and tolerant lady. I have such wonderful memories of all of your family – I have never forgotten how gentle Hattie was, always the “teacher” of all of us during those early 60’s. What a heritage you have!
