To Marie’s family: It is with great sorrow that I learn of Marie’s passing. I know that no mere words can express the heart felt sorrow that you now feel, but maybe knowing that others share your pain with help ease yours. Marie will always be remember by those that knew her. I know Marie is dwelling in the house of our Lord and smiling down on you and her friends. She is at peace! God Bless

the first time I met Mrs. Snarby I was 14 years old and interested in all crafts. Just starting stitching and knitting. I spent what little money I had at the Scandinavian shop downtown Newfoundland and she coached me with my projects. Later I knew her as a wonderful mother-in-law to my sister Diane and grandmother to harald and Diane’s children Tim and Kelly-ann. A kind and caring lady. Rest in peace

Dear Family,
I would like to extend our deepest sympathies to you all. I met Marie almost 15 years ago when she was kind enough to make a magnificent Norweigan ring cake for a benefit show I was doing for the Astor Theatre. I was a total stranger to her and once I explained what I was doing, she didn’t hesitate to help me in such a generous way. I met Marie often at the gym or at musical/theatrical events and she always had a smile and a laugh for me. She was a regal woman in every way and I will miss her.
I am sure she will make an excellent angel up in Heaven and continue to watch over and guide her family.
Our most sincere prayers to all of you at this time,
Joyce & Steve Nickerson

Your family is in our hearts as you go through this difficult time. Marie was a special woman who raised five boys into fine men often alone while your father was at sea. I have a lot of fond memories of her and I still get a chuckle when I think of them. She had that ability to make you feel special whenever she spoke to you. You were so lucky to have her and she will live on in your hearts.

To Bjorn and family my condolences. I have many fond memories of time spent in the Snarby home in Clayton Park. My late husband Alex and Bjorn were great friends and all us teenagers would hang out in the Snarby’s family room.Marie would put up with all the noise and going ons while serving up food for us. The strong sense of family love and connection was never lost on me. I know the family unit was so important to the Snarby’s which I always admired. May the grief you feel be overshadowed by the love you knew.

To the Family of Marie:
Marie was a wonderful person and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her smile was infectious and her humour appreciated by all. When I last saw her in hospital she was still alert and at peace with the world. She talked of her family and friends and how much she appreciated them. Take comfort that she was loved by all and will not be forgotten. She is now at peace with God. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Try to remember the good times, it really does help.
Sincerely,

To Ulf, Bjørn, Martin, Stein and Harald with families.
We’re so sorry for your loss!
Even though we can’t be there in person for your celebration of tante Marie’s life today our hearts and thoughts will be there with you.
She was a wonderful person with so much “life” in her. We have so many beautiful memories of her: her laughter, playing Skip-Bo or Mexican Train with her (with all the smiles and the laughter that led to), the way she enjoyed sitting down and just talk (especially with the youngsters – she was genuinely interested in what they had to say), her warm and caring personality (she opened her home and her heart to all of us), and so much more.
She will truly be missed by everyone whose lives she touched in one way or another.
I’m sure that there will be tears at the celebration today but I’m also certain that there will be laughter too as you share happy and loving memories of tante Marie with each other.
Thanks for all the memories!
Our sincere condolences.
Love from Wenche, Iris and Linn

Thank you Marie;
For being the open and including person that you always were.
When I came to Canada with my mother and father, you and your boys opened your hearts and included all three of us in your family and great circle of friends.
Some years later when we both found ourselves in St. John’s, you again showed your friendliness. You opened your home as one of the key initiater and got the Scandinavian Society of Newfoundland started.
I will always remember you as a friendly and open person who really cared about all those around you. Your kind hearted spirit lives on in all your five boys that you have given life to, and I am sure as well your greater family that follows behind.
Sincerely
Knut Nygaard and Family

After my father’s accident, I stayed at your place, when I was just a baby. Was it as long as a month? Sorry, I do not remember. Thank you, for taking care of me.
