Snair;

                 SNAIR – Harriet Miriam, 97, of Ottawa, Ontario and formerly of Brooklyn, Queens County, NS, passed away peacefully at Carlingview Manor Nursing Home, Ottawa on September 4, 2014.

Born in Vogler’s Cove, Lunenburg County, NS, she was the daughter of the late Winford and Pauline “Polly” (Conrad) Conrad.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Harriet enjoyed playing cards, spending the summer camping with the grandchildren and family as well as attending any music concerts that her daughter was involved in. She was a member of Pinehurst Rebekah Lodge, St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, St. Andrew’s Altar Guild, the A.C.W. and a member of The Gloucester Senior Adults’ Centre, Ottawa.

She is survived by her daughter Janet (Peter) Levangie of Ottawa, granddaughter Michelle (David) Harriton, New Hampshire, USA and grandson Damian (Susan) Levangie of Ottawa. Great grandchildren Benjamin, Elijah and Gabrielle Harriton of New Hampshire, US; Lacey and Cameron Levangie of Ottawa. Nieces Linda Attaway (nee Maillett), P.E.I. and Darlene Buchanan (nee Conrad) of Brookfield, NS. Nephews Darrell Conrad of Milton, NS, Curtis Maillett of Brooklyn, Queens County, NS and Ralph Maillett of Cameron, ON.

She was predeceased by her husband Theodore “Ted”, sister Angelena “Lena” Maillett, brother Sherman Conrad and nephew Kevin Conrad.

Visitation will be Monday , September 8, 2014 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Brooklyn. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Burial will be in Seaside Cemetery, Brooklyn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Dear Janet and family….so very sorry to hear of dear Harriet’s passing,she was her usual pleasant self when I visited her at your home here in Ottawa although I realized her health was failing…you gave her wonderful,dedicated care.Harriet and Mom were great friends from when I was a small child and I so loved Harriet…she was always so sweet and kind to me all my life and will never forget that…so interested in you Janet,especially your years at the Mount,your singing and choirs and support from the Sisters…and the love for her grandchildren Michelle and Damien and their academic ability and their successful lives in the private sector…all with love and pride in all of you.RIP dear Harriet,you did a great job and now deserve your rest.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mother. I always enjoyed visiting with her, especially the last time I was home with my husband. She was such a pleasure and loved talking about her family. My memories go back to when you and I started school together and had always been friends until we moved away.
