
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Randy “Bubba” Smith on Wednesday, November 30th, 2011.
Born in Pleasant River, he was a son of the late Pittman and Leola (Veinot) Smith.
Randy was a stone mason all his working life. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to drive his snowmobile, four-wheeler and hang out with his dog, Abbey.
He is survived by his daughters Marlene (Joe) Colp of South Farmingham, Dale Wamback of Pleasant River and Janice Smith of Kingston, ON. His son Larry (Tina Frank) of North Brookfield. His grandchildren Lorraine, Theresa, Melissa, Nick and Derrick. His great-grandchildren Dane and Gage. His sisters Mildred Markvardson of Enfield, Eleanor Corkum of Wileville, Shirley Frank of Bridgewater. His brother Cedric (Susan) of North Brookfield. Also nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary (MacRae) and his brother Roman.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 4th, 2011 from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. and funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., both in Trinity United Church, Pleasant River. Reverend Dr. Doug Mailman officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Pleasant River. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Prostate Cancer Canada, Halifax or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. We were very sorry to hear of Bubba’s passing, he was a good friend and a good father in-law too. I remember having many good time with him over the years. Randy was always there to help you if you needed him, a real good guy.
I will never forget the time I think it was summer early 80’s Larry and I were working for Randy at his house and we were slacking off a bit and he took out his rifle and shot the tail feather off of the rooster and told us that if we didn’t get working we were next…
He was only joking with us, he was an amazing marksmen with a rifle, and yes we immediately went back to work, ask Larry.
He will be missed, our thoughts and prayers go out to all his friends and family.
