Please accept our condolences on your family’s great loss. Phyllis will be missed by so many…. family members, friends, craftsers/artisans and members of her many volunteer organizations.
I have fond memories of Phyllis and Murray at our home and at “the lake”, card games with my parents and Lou and Ian; sometimes with kids in tow and occasionally enjoying an adults only time.
As an adult I have enjoyed seeing Phyllis yearly at the Maritime Fibre Arts Retreat, still with “kid” Joanne in tow. This last retreat was great as Phyllis and Joanne shared a table with Edith and I. We got to chat a lot! Joanne, it was so nice to do that.
Again, so sorry for your loss.

Elizabeth (Wentzell) and Robert Aulenback

Phyllis holds a really special place in our hearts. We loved her quick wit and spending time with her and Murray. It was like being in a sitcom at times. You know how it is when people show certain sides of themselves. Well with Murray and Phyllis, it was always great conversation, banter, jokes, and going over the things reported in the newspaper. Usually Phyllis would be doing some quilting while this was going on. Or cooking. She was a fabulous cook. One day we arrived around 10 AM for a visit and Phyllis had breakfast for us – bacon and eggs. And she had the *good* bacon! No sooner were plates cleared off the table was lunch ready. Seafood chowder. Well we couldn’t say no! Avery fell asleep in the chair after lunch. Phyllis was surprised and teased him. We spent the afternoon chatting away. To my surprise, supper was in the oven all that time and we ended up eating again around 4 pm. Duck and chicken and all the fixings! She was stealth in the kitchen. You all shouldn’t be surprised that dessert was a part of this too. Strawberry short cake with home made ice cream. We were stuffed full but we knew this was a treat. Anyone who was in her kitchen for a meal would know this. We were fortunate to have known her and to have these memories. Rest in peace, Phyllis. We are better people because you were in our lives.

Condolence from Pat and Coleen Ryan on September 6th, 2017 3:27 pm

Just watched the beautiful video of Phyllis and all those happy scenes with her family. It brought back so many wonderful memories of you and I “cooking” in her kitchen, Joanne, and playing in your basement, planning a talent show, which she and Murray attended with gusto. She was always a kind welcoming lady with a warm smile. I remember her hands were constantly busy creating something. She had many talents and shared them so willingly. Pat and I are thinking of you all as you grieve but know that she has left behind a treasure chest of memories for you to draw upon.
