SHUPE – M. Eleanor, 80, of Charleston, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Monday, September 14, 2020 surrounded by her loving children.
Born in Middle Musquodobit, Eleanor was a daughter of the late Edward and Clara (Jacobson) Fisher.
Eleanor had many jobs in her lifetime. Along with being a stay at home Mom for a time, Eleanor worked at Regal, the former K&W Bookbinders and the former Stedman’s store in Liverpool, Fahie’s Nursing Home and Nantucket Homes. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Charleston Fire Department and enjoyed playing bingo, cards, Yahtzee and doing diamond art. She especially enjoyed sit down Sunday dinners with her family.
Eleanor is survived by her daughters: Shelly (Derek) Neilson of Liverpool, Deborah Shupe (Herman) of Yarmouth, Peggy Shupe (Danny Scott) of Bridgewater. Her son Gordon (Valerie) of Maitland. Her grandchildren Tyler Whynot, Ryan McGrady, Aaron Thompson, Melody Whynot, Staci Frank, Alyssa McNeil, Samantha MacNearney and Megan McGrady. Her great grandchildren Angus, Ewan, Conan and Oscar MacNearney, Gracie Shupe, Kinsley St. Hilaire, Hudson Frank, Josey Huskins, Bryson McNeil and Aden McGrady.
Her sisters Bonnie (Roger) Newcombe of Dartmouth, June (Gerald) Hobson of Cole Harbour, Jane MacDonald of Lake Echo and Patsy (Anthony) Henneberry of Chezzetcook. Her brothers Steven of Slave Lake, AB and Russell of Dartmouth.
Besides her parents, Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Aden and her grandson Trevor Whynot, her sisters Marina Webber, Hilda Sheaves, Mae Martel, Linda Hobson and her brothers Edward “Manny” and Raymond.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in New Charleston Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. All those attending Eleanor’s service are requested to bring their own mask, practice physical distancing and hand sanitizing and provide funeral staff with contact tracing information.
