Dear Suanne and Cathy, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom, she was my only Aunt and the last of our family from that generation. Despite the time and distance that have been between our visits I have always had only good memories of her and kept her updated on the growth of my family. My wife does not understand our Western culture of often going years without contacting family (could be just a Fisherism), at moments like this I can only agree and tell you with a heavy heart that I wish I had taken one more opportunity to come home. Mrs. Shankel was one of the nicest teachers that I had in Junior High . The one thing that I most remember is her telling us to never go to bed angry and to always tell the ones we cared about , how much we loved them . I can still hear her “Charm Bracelet” jingling as she wrote on the chalk board . My deepest sympathy to her family.

Dorothy was a wonderful teacher with a big soft spot for her students who revered her in kind. She was the model of organization and efficiency.
It was always clear, however, that although Dorothy was a career woman, her family was her first priority and love. Lessons well learned!

Suanne and Cathy, I am so sorry for you loss. Time and distance allow me to remember Aunt Dorothy only from the view of my childhood. She was always trying to feed me more food and as I recall made a mean lobster sandwich. I know you were very close to your mother and her passing is a great loss to you and your families. I hope you find comfort in knowing she is free of pain and reunited with Uncle Earl.
Deepest regards Carol Fisher

Cathy, Suanne and Families,
Know that my thought and prayers are with you all during this time. Over the years we have shared many times together of laughter, stories, jokes and usually way too much food. Dorothy always loved to be in the mix with everyone. She and your father were great to have visit. It meant we got some of their traditional foods and your mother always seemed to manage to have at least one adventure per trip that left us all laughing. Throughout the years she offered us much advice, supported us and loved us. Her joy that she took in her grand daughters and later her great grand children has left them with a wonderful legacy of the great grandmother that will bring smiles to their faces for the rest of their lives. I know this time is difficult but I also know that you will draw strength from each other and from your families and friends. You mother will be deeply missed, but her amazing spirit will be with us forever. Blessings.
Sid woolfrey
Emily, Kate and Sandy,
You know that the three of you have been constantly on my mind these past few days in particular. I know that there will be moments when memories (although precious and wonderful) will tug at your heart staring and moments of flashbacks will cause a heart ache. I hope you realize that I am there with you in spirit every moment. NanNan loved the three of you so much and you gave her so much to be proud of. She always managed to save newspaper clippings of you all or find a special slipping that she would send to you all about a holiday or special event. Each time she had the chance to spend some time with you she was filled with joy. We have all been blessed by here presence on our journey. Nan Nan will continue that journey with you in another form that may be different for each of you. Know I love you three very much and my heart aches with you now. However I have seem the miracle of what happens when you three start to feed support and love to each other. There will be some tears shed here today and tomorrow as well. However mostly they will be tears of gratitude for a life that enriched ours. I believe that your grandmother will enjoy the next portion of her journey as much as the first. I know she will find a way to stay in close contact with you and her spirit and joy of family will continue to inspire you. I miss you three. My heart is holding the three of you close. Consider yourself hugged and loved. Dad
