SCOBEY – William R. “Bill”, 87, of Moose Harbour, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
Born in Liverpool, Bill was a son of the late Edgar and Elsie (Baker) Scobey.
Bill worked at Bowater Mersey Paper Company for 36 years, and when he retired, he went on the water with his son, Stephen. He continued until his early eighties. He lived a simple, down to earth life, all of it, in his family home in Moose Harbour and never ventured far. He was happiest when he was on the water or working on fishing gear with Stephen. Bill was tenacious, opinionated and had a unique personality. You never got the last word, and he always had an answer for everything. He loved baseball and he always stayed true to his team, the Boston Red Sox, even when they were in the cellar. 
Bill is survived by his wife Barbara (Mossman) (Fraser); his daughters Charlene (Bruce) White and Patti (Reid) Emenau, both of Liverpool and his son Stephen (Alison) of Moose Harbour. His grandchildren Shelley, Lindsay and Samantha and his great-grandchildren Will, Addison and Callie.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother Charles.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. At Bill’s request, there will be no funeral service at this time. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
