Roy;

ROY – Douglas E.,  64, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away suddenly in Liverpool on Monday, August 30th, 2010.

Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Catherine (Huphman) Roy.

Doug was well known throughout Liverpool and the surrounding area, having done odd jobs for practically everyone he knew. He was a man of integrity and could be counted on for his dedication to whatever he was asked to do and to see it to its completion. Doug loved Tim Horton’s in the morning; for his coffee and to socialize as well as cutting wood with his powersaw, but he especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sisters: Janice Roy of Halifax; Elizabeth Sunderland and Carol (John) Bollivar, both of Liverpool. His brothers: Ross (Darlene) and Richard (Sharon), both of Liverpool.

He was predeceased by his brother Lawrence.

Visitation will be Friday, September 3rd, 2010 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 4th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool. Chaplain Donald Lawton officiating. Burial will be in Grace Anglican Cemetery, Western Head. No flowers by request, donations may  be made to the Queens Association for Supported Living, P.O. Box 520, Milton, NS, B0T 1P0. Condolence from Gerald & Vina Moses on September 5th, 2010 5:49 am

We are sad that Dougie is not going to be in town to say hi to, to drive somewhere or to chitchat with. We fondly remember the many times he sat at our kitchen table and ‘chewed the fat’ and Dougie would say ‘I’m satisfied’ and he truly was satisfied and lived a great life with a lot of friends. Gerald and Dougie would often do stuff around the place and Dougie taught Gerald to use a chainsaw (to my chagrin). One day I mentioned that i wanted my mailbox in a different spot. When I got back from work in Halifax, it was moved. Dougie moved it for us and it is still there even now. We will miss his distinctive voice telling us stuff about the history of where we live and who we met. We will miss Dougie. We have shed a tear for Dougie. Our thoughts are with his family who he loved.
