Arnold Vincent Roy

ROY – Arnold Vincent, 77, of Mersey Point, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on February 26, 2022.
Born in Southwest Port Mouton, Arnold was a son of the late Floyd and Edna (Fisher) Roy.
Arnold was as strong as the dedicated, unwavering love of his wife, Judy, who nursed and cared for him so that he could remain at home for as long as possible. If love doesn’t heal all, it most certainly , at the very least, can extend one’s life, for she was his life support for a great while.
Arnold worked hard his whole entire life. He has various jobs at C. W. MacLeod Fisheries eventually becoming head carpenter and overseeing construction of a large addition to the plant. He worked for various contractors after that, always thoroughly enjoying his line of work. During his time off, he didn’t like to sit still for long and was always happy to lend a hand or answer questions regarding construction for anyone who needed it. His last project was the one he was especially passionate about; helping his son build his summer home. It was an intense labour of love, filled with plenty of blood, sweat and maybe a few curse words, but he looked forward to it every day. The end result was something to be proud of.
He also had a love for antique and classic cars. He and Judy attended many shows in years past even winning a few awards. In his leisure time, he and his family enjoyed camping for many years at Ponhook Lodge Campground. In his prime, Arnold was fond of big family gatherings, planked fish, potlucks and horse shoes.
Arnold was of sharp mind and stellar memory up until recently, having the uncanny ability to recall names and events from the past like no other. He retained information like a sponge and seemed to know a little about everything.
After his retirement, he still had “ants in his pants” syndrome and never sat at home for long. He was most content when he could find someone who he could “shoot the shit” with. Western Head Auto Salvage was his second home; Scott and Tracy were his other family.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Judith (Levy); his son Jimmy (Melissa), his daughter Sherri, granddaughter Corrina and his sister Valerie as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Arnold was predeceased by his sister Juanita, his brothers Reid and Buster and his nephew Joel.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. No flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com
