Rowter, Sandra Joan, age 75, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Sunday, February 27th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Brookfield, she was a daughter of the late Ranald and Modena (Frail) Baker.
Sandra was employed as a nursery school teacher in her younger years. She and her husband Bruce later owned and operated the Kedjie Restaurant for many years. Sandra was a gifted cook but she often joked that it was a curse because she did not enjoy her time in the kitchen one bit. She later found her passion when she went to work at the North Queens Heritage House Museum, where she worked for many years up until her retirement. Sandra enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and she was also very crafty and enjoyed working with her hands. Sandra’s greatest joy in life was her family and she greatly loved her grandchildren who were her life.
Sandra is survived by a daughter, Kimberley (Glenn) MacQuarrie of Lower Sackville; son, William “Bill” (Nicole) of Liverpool; her grandchildren, Brayden (Jessica), Kaitlyn and Jayden; sister, Jennifer Goodwin of Halifax; brother Jamie (Cheryl) of Tantallon; sister-in-law, Shirley of Caledonia.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Bruce; brothers, John, Allen and Donald.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A Celebration of Sandra’s Life will be held on Saturday March 5th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Reverend Carol Smith officiating. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the North Queens Heritage House Museum or to a charity of your choice. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.chandlersfuneral.com
Offer Condolence for the family of Rowter; Sandra Joan

I worked for Sandra at Kedge Restaurant and like her obituary says, she indeed was very gifted in the kitchen. She taught me many tricks in the “heat of the summer,” as we prepared every day for the huge crowd that often came in daily. What a wonderful boss and friend that she became to me.
How sad to hear of her passing. Without a doubt, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
My sincere condolences to both her children, Kim and Billy, whom she talked about so often and loved so dearly. May you find peace in your hearts knowing that she is in a much better place.

Kim, Billy and all of the family,
I am sending my heartfelt sympathy. I am so very sorry.
Sandra was like an extra mom to me growing up. I have such wonderful memories of my time spent with your family. As well as learning a lot from her while working at Kedge Restaurant, like I cannot cut pies or carve a turkey! A few years later, in my younger adult years, she’d allow me to experiment with her hair, including the “upside down perm”! We always had wonderful conversations and many laughs!
Sadly, we get busy, time goes by and years pass and we often say, I wonder how so and so is doing. Instead of wondering, we need to do better at keeping in touch before it is too late.
I know she is content, and at peace, once again with Bruce and she will always look after her family from above.
Lean on your family and friends for strength and treasure all your beautiful memories of your beautiful, inside and out, Mom.
My love to you all.

Condolences from David and Dorothy Lutes. Our sincere sympathy to Kim, Billy, Jamie and Jennifer and families. Sandra and I (Dorothy) were best of friends. We had many adventures- some Modena lined us out and others she laughed at. I could go on and on, however my memories of her are great. Sandra always looked for the best in people. Her love for her family was outstanding. She was a very hard worker and she could put her hand to anything. Her journey to heaven will be peaceful and probably will be an angel of mercy and guidance.
