Marion “Mary” Roberton

ROBERTON – Marion “Mary”, age 69, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away on Monday August 24, 2020, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

Born in Burgeo, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ida (Strickland) Lushman.

After bringing up her family, Mary went back to school to get her GED and also to Nova Scotia Community College, taking the Home Health Provider course. She then was employed for a number of years at Queens Manor, Liverpool before retiring due to ill health. She also worked in the kitchen for Wong’s Restaurant in her younger years. Mary loved bowling, playing bingo and working on any kind of puzzle she could find. She was an avid supporter of the Queens County Ground Search and Rescue and the Liverpool Volunteer Fire Department. Above all else, she was most passionate about her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Mary was a fun, loving and easy going person.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Shona (Scott) Dauphinee, of Liverpool; sons, James, of Liverpool and Robert (Charlene Burke), of East Lawrencetown; grandchildren, Kelly, Holly and David; sisters, Shirley (George) Parsons, Marie (Wayne) Bowls, Daisy (Wilson) Durnford, all of Burgeo, Newfoundland, Linda (Glen) Durnford, of Francoisway, Newfoundland; brothers, Wesley (Judy) of St, John’s, Newfoundland and Brad, of Alberta.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Leigh; sisters, Susie, Mamie and Anne; brothers, Albert, Tom, Fred, Ronald, Stanley and Richard.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 27th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m., from Seaside Cemetery, Brooklyn, followed by a reception at the Liverpool Fire Hall. Reverend Judy Cross officiating. No flowers by request, memorial donations may be made to the Queens General Hospital Foundation, the I.W.K. Children’s Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
