Roberts; Rhonda Louise

February 10, 2019 170 Condolences

Rhondainframe

ROBERTS – Rhonda Louise, 49, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2019 in Queens General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Liverpool, Rhonda was a daughter of Lawrence and Audrey (Fancy) Roberts of Brooklyn.
If you had the good fortune to know Rhonda, you would be sharing our emotions of deep sadness as well as distinct pride. Rhonda enriched the lives of all those who met her. She was a compassionate leader within her family, a dynamic athlete in sports playing softball on both The Devils and the Stray Cats, a loving, caring daughter and mother, and a powerful member of the Pharmasave team. Rhonda played hardball on The Canada Games team and on July 13, 2018 was inducted into The Hants County Softball Hall of Fame.
Graduating from Liverpool Regional High School, she attended Acadia University enrolling in a Bachelor of Business Administration. She returned to Liverpool and started her career in Retail with Peoples Department Store. Rhonda joined Reynolds Pharmasave in 1989, quickly proved her interpersonal skills and was invited to work with the Dispensary team. Her joy in the pursuit of excellence coupled with her strong sense of fairness made her a leader on the team and a favourite with her clients. She always showed an amazing sense of humour.
Surviving besides her parents are her daughter Madison and her son Caleb (Hayleigh Smith) both of Liverpool. Her sister Monica Roberts (Mark Whynot) of Milton and her brother Lyle of Brooklyn.
She was predeceased by her sister Hillary Ann Roberts.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Seaside Cemetery, Gardner Road, Brooklyn. Family flowers only, donations may be made to Queens SPCA or for chairs in the Chemotherapy ward of SSRH. Online condolences may be made to www.chandersfuneral.com

Our condolences on the loss of your Mother, your Daughter and your Aunt Rhonda. Our thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone of you. I am so sorry you lost another daughter Audrey and Butch. I can’t even imagine your pain. All I can think of are those two sweet little girls I first meet when I lived next too you on George Street. Hillary & Rhonda they were so adorable I find this so hard to believe, and so unfair. I was told Rhonda had terminal cancer but I could not believe it, until I read it today that she passed away. She was a beautiful person inside and out , Liverpool lost one of their finest..God’s Blessing to you all.

I am so sad to hear of Rhonda’s passing. I am also grateful that we reconnected last summer at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Rhonda was a force to be reckoned with on the ball field. She was relatively quiet, but when she spoke it was usually very smart and funny. I remember Graham, our coach teasing her, as he did everyone, and she would laugh so hard. Lots of good times. Rest In Peace teammate. ❤️❤️

Rhonda was truly a rare gem. She meant so much to so many , a cherished daughter , an adoring & proud Mom , a fun loving sister & aunt & a dear friend to all who were so fortunate to be in her circle which included most of her co-worker’s.To the rest of the community , myself included she could brighten one’s day with her genuine concern & sense of humor. It didn’t matter how many challenges were thrown her way she remained strong always looking for the positive . I admired her greatly. I still have some of the pure vanilla Hillary brought me back from the last trip her & Rhonda took .. when Hillary passed I didn’t have the heart to use what was left. I remember Hillary every time I open the cupboard… now it will remind me of the 2 girl’s I was fortunate to know. I pray that knowing how many lives she touched will help you in the coming weeks. Hillary would have been with her on the last leg of her journey , that’s a given.

It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences to all.

So many emotions today at Rhonda’s memorial. Committing two daughters/sisters/mothers /aunts/friends to the ground together was such a powerful image…of loss and of love. Molly was so lovely in offering up such beautiful words to her aunt. She got me right in the ‘feels’. The sun came out and birds flew overhead and I really feel like they were there with us. Thoughts are with you in the coming days and weeks as you adjust to a world without Rhonda on this earthly plane…but I’m sure she will find ways to pop into your minds to remind you that she had nothing but love for you all. Love love Love.
