She will be fondly remembered for her infectious laugh and her incredibly beautiful smile.
Surviving besides her parents is her brother Justin. Her paternal grandparents Havelock and Dorothy (Croft) Richards of Sandy Cove and maternal grandfather Sterling (Judith) Smith of Alberta.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Karen MacNeil.

Although I didn’t know Jessica as well as most, i’m glad for the fact that I was able to know her at all. I will always remember walking or driving by her home and seeing her, her mom and Rachael always sitting out front, she always waved with that beautiful smile of hers. My heart goes out to her family and all the people who knew her best……Jessica, I will always steal a look at your front doorstep everytime I drive by and remember…..xo.

Condolence from Helen & Tom Hebb on November 3rd, 2011 10:12 am

Condolence from Terrena Parnell on November 3rd, 2011 10:42 am

Darrell, Michele & Justin,
Although I didn’t know Jessica personally, my daughter did, throughout high school and after. From what I’ve been hearing from everyone, I missed out on knowing one of the sweetest young women who would go out of her way to help others. I know there are no words right now that will ease your pain but take heart in knowing many more grieve with you for a young life taken too soon. She will forever be your special guardian angel watching over you. My heart goes out to you at this time.

Condolence from Loretta & Kenny Andrews on November 3rd, 2011 10:54 am

Our hearts go out to her family and friends.

Condolence from Amanda Broome & Stephen Belding on November 3rd, 2011 10:55 am

We both had the pleasure working with Jessica at OLS. I must say if you were having a bad day, when you heard Jessica laugh it made you feel better, and that smile lit up any room, and she went above and beyond to help someone out at work if they needed it. To Jessica’s mom, dad, brother and the rest of her family and friends, please accept our condolences at this time.

Condolence from Krista, Naaman Barton on November 3rd, 2011 11:13 am

Dear Richards,
It was a great 10 years on the Ol’ Bristol Ave. Jessica, Rachel & I had so much fun, yet got into so much trouble. I will never forget the sleep overs, make up and dress up. We had so much fun. I will also never forget Jess and I always hounding you to make your homemade french fries all the time. I will remember all of the good times we shared forever in my heart. Naaman loved running into Jessica, he always got a laugh out of her and wouldn’t stop aggravating her until he got one, it never took long and she always had that smile on her face. We will forever drive by your house and look for her shining face, and remember all of the times we shared with her. She is forever in our hearts and will never be forgotten. May her soul rest in peace, and her memories in our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers and love are with you all at this very hard time. God has received one of the most beautiful angels and may she dance and shine her light on us all.

Condolence from Brittnee Whynot on November 3rd, 2011 11:21 am

Jess and I may have not been the closest over the past few years, But we were inseparable in grade school. We would watch scary movies (13 ghosts & urban legends) over and over again.. we even invented our own board game back in the day, a pokemon version of monopoly. Im sure she still had this, as we spoke of it often. I just loved going to her place after school days, Michele always made us the best hot chocolate with tons of huge marshmellows! We spent countless days at the ball fields together as our parents would be playing ball in the town league.. We would always find something to pass the time, even if it was something stupid. I will truly miss this girl, she is a piece of who I am, and who I always will be. Breathtaking, beautiful girl, who was taken way, way, way before her time. I can only imagine how Rachel and her family are feeling at this time. This will affect the whole town, for a very long time. She will always be remembered as the fun loving, amazing girl she always was… I love ya Jess, give mom a kiss for me <3 xoxox

I see you each time you shed a tear,
I catch it and kiss you, I hope that you know that I’m near.
This place is so beautiful, There’s so much to see!
I know that someday you’ll be here with me.
The angels were singing when I arrived!
Jesus was there with His arms open wide!
The snow and the rain are just my confetti.
I know you’ll be coming and I want to be ready.
When you feel the wind, it’s me walking by.
I can run and skip now, I can even fly!
When the blossoms and leaves fall into your hair,
It’s me planting kisses, yes, I put them there!
The birds are singing to keep you company,
They’re especially for you with love from me.
I know that you miss me and feel so alone,
Until the great day when you finally come home

They bring smiles to our faces, or tears to our eyes, and sometimes both at the same time. Losing a loved one is devastating, but we have all been left with a special gift – our memories. They are often the only things we have left after that special person is gone. Though at times they may be painful to think about, with them, our loved ones remain a part of us forever.

Condolence from Dwight ,and Louise Fancy on November 4th, 2011 1:31 pm

The Richards Family:Our hearts go out to you at this very difficult time.Your daughter was taken away so quickly and way too soon. We have met Jessica and she has been to our house with our grandaughter Kelsey Clattenburg.I have been talking to my daughter as we was in Ottawa when she called to give us the terrible news. Our son Tristan lived with Kim for 3 years so he knew Jessica.well. Every person who knew her spoke so highly of her.I love this verse :If I should be the first to go And you remain awhile,Before you too, must walk alone . Down lifes last lonely mile. I would not have you weep nor grieve For happiness thats flown.Lest tears be dim that misty vale. Down which my feet have gone.If I should be the first to go,Beyond lifes mystic pale,Just think of me as one who goes To blaze a brighter trail.Across that unknown wilderness,That on some future day.Your feet may find a smoother path Along that self same way.If I should be the first to go.I shall walk slowly dear. For someday you will follow me Across deaths dark frontier.I,ll markeach turn along the road. That you may walk the same.I,ll often pause to hear your voice. If you should call my name.If I should be the first to go.Be yound all earthly care,I,ll try to linger near the gate.Until you enter there. Then, hand in hand with all of lifes Hard battles fought and won. Together we shall find what lies Beyond the setting sun. I know Jessica being such a beautiful girl will certainely will be at the Golden Gate waiting for her Mom ,Dad and her brother. Thinking of you, and also Rachel who was so close to Jessica

Condolence from Lee & Gladys Fraser on November 4th, 2011 1:44 pm

The Richards Family

So sorry to read of the lost of Jessica, our thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless ,
If Tomorrow Starts Without Me – David Romano

If tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.
I know how much you care for me, and how much I care for you,
and each time that you think of me I know you’ll miss me too;

But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready in heaven far above,
and that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye,
for all life, I’d always thought I didn’t want to die.
I had so much to live for and so much yet to do.
it seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for a while,
I’d say goodbye and hug you and maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realised that this could never be,
for emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things that I’d miss come tomorrow.
I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through Heaven’s gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne,
He said, “This is eternity and all I’ve promised you,
Today your life on earth is past but here it’s starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last.
and since each day’s the same, there’s no longing for the past.

But you have been so faithful, so trusting, so true.
Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn’t do.
And you have been forgiven and now at last you’re free.
So won’t you come and take my hand and share my life with me?”

So if tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart,
for every time you think of me, please know I’m in your heart.

Darrell, Michelle and family,

We were shocked and saddened to hear of your terrible loss and cannot find the words to express how sorry we are.. So please know that we are hurting with you. You are very much in our thoughts and prayers. With much love and sympathy.

If tears could build a stairway,
And memories were a lane,
You could walk right up to heaven
To bring her down again.
No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say good-bye.
She was gone before you knew it,
And only God knows why.
Your hearts still ache in sadness
And secret tears still flow,
What it meant to lose her,
No one will ever know.
When you are sad and lonely,
And everything goes wrong,
You seem to hear her whisper
“Cheer up and carry on.”
Each time you look at her pictures,
She seem to smile and say,
“Don’t cry, I’m only sleeping,
We’ll meet again someday.”

There are not enough words to express how sorry we are for what you and your family are going through. And there can never be the right words for you to express your feelings now. But just remember all of the words that describe your daughter with the fun memories, the person she was as a baby, a little girl, a teenager and as a young woman. There will never be enough paper to write down all of these words. Take your time to fill your hearts with all of the love that you and your family have shared as you will always have this to warm your hearts forever. Take care. You are in our prayers.

There are no words to express how sorry we are for your loss. Jessica will be forever remembered by all those who have been touched by her short life. May you find some peace in days and months to come. Sending much love and prayers. Tracy & Kevin Samuels

When somebody dies, a cloud turns into an angel,
and flies up to tell God to put another flower on a pillow.
A bird gives the message back to the world,
and sings a silent prayer that makes the rain cry.
People dis-appear, but they never really go away.
The spirits up there put the sun to bed,
wake up grass, and spin the earth in dizzy circles.
Sometimes you can see them dancing in a cloud during the day-time,
when they’re supposed to be sleeping.
They paint the rainbows and also the sunsets
and make waves splash and tug at the tide.
They toss shooting stars and listen to wishes.
And when they sing wind- songs, they whisper to us,
don’t miss me too much.
The view is nice and I’m doing just fine.
