Hi Shirley
I feel a loss of some one that I did not get to know as well as I would like to have. Aunt Ida was always so nice and easy going. Time and distance got in the way . I will always remember her frying up some ell that my friend Adrian and I had caught at the lake. That was so long ago . I am sure that you and your family have far greater memories than I of Aunt Ida. Remember her love .
Our condolences Arthur & donna

To the family of Ida Rice. I remember Aunt Ida from when I stayed
with her and Uncle Reg on The Avenue in Brooklyn for a few
months. It was before I went to school. Aunt Ida introduced me to
children on the Avenue who I would play with and a girl I believe
lived in a store at the entrance to Brooklyn, by the river. I rode my
tricycle over a beautiful brook via a wide bridge and played on the
front veranda of their home. It was at this house that I first heard
practise of the WWII warning siren and was terribly scared, crying on my mother’s lap. I remember Aunt Ida allowing me to help set the table with a set of dishes I remember to this day. I loved the color.
I remember her kindness when I didn’t feel well and that of her
brother who brought me a small branch of crab apples when I had
an ear ache and was wailing on the sofa. Didn’t think much of
those sour crab apples. I remember Aunt Ida being so pretty.
She was delicate appearing, light hair and nice fair skin. She was
soft spoken to me, kind, and I did not want to leave her or the
home on The Avenue. I planned to see her this summer but put
it off too long. It has been so many years since we saw each
other. My condolences to you Shirley and your family.
