
Rafuse, Basil W., 92, of Charleston, Queens County, passed away Friday, January 15th, 2010, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.
Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Sidney and Idella (Baker) Rafuse.
Basil worked most of his life at the Bowater Mersey Paper Company, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Zetland Lodge #49. Basil enjoyed salmon fishing and gardening.
He is survived by daughters Marie (Owen) Zwicker, of Vaughn, Susan Dean, of Liverpool, Sheila (Larry) Lowe, of Moranville, Alberta; son Reginald (Charlotte), of Charleston; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson.
He was predeceased by his wife Enid; son Atwood; grandson Stacy; sisters Frances, Nora, Marvel, Elizabeth, Verna, Irene; brothers Gilbert, Freeman.
A Celebration of Basil’s Life will be held Thursday, January 21st, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., from Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Reverend Jennifer Garbin officiating. Burial will be in the New Charleston Cemetery, Charleston. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Queens General Hospital Foundation.
