It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of William “John” Primrose, with his family by his side, on Saturday, December 3, 2022, in the Queen’s General Hospital, Liverpool.
John was the beloved husband of Colleen for 60 years, the adored father of Shelley (Kempton) Newell, Colleen (Drew) Everest, Jill Primrose, and Lynda (Jayson) Talaga; the cherished grandfather of Christopher (Kate), Tyler (Amanda), Michelle (Sterling), Clay (Jamie), Ryan (Jennifer) and Matthew; and the proud great-grandfather of Jacob, Liam, Charleigh, Jack, Parker, and Max. John is survived by siblings Lottie, Darcy (Marnie), Jim, Joan and Helen; his brother & sister-in-law Charles and Norma; and many nieces and nephews.
John retired after 25 years with Teleglobe Canada and turned his retirement hobby of working on computers into his second career when he and Colleen opened Primrose Computers in Liverpool in 1996. It soon became a valued business within the Liverpool community until 2019. Over the years John volunteered with many community organizations including Scouts Canada, Liverpool Volunteer Fire Department, Liverpool Lions Club, member of the Liverpool United Baptist Church and supported many community organizations. John was devoted to Colleen, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nothing made him happier than when they were all around him. His family will forever miss his wise, calm and loving nature and he will always be in their hearts.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 11, 2022 form 6 until 8 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool with a celebration of John’s life being held on Monday, December 12th at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Dr. Harry Gardner officiating. Reception to follow the service. No flowers by request, donations may be made in memory of John to the Queens County VON or Queens General Hospital. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com
Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at Queens General, and the dedicated nurses at the VON.

Colleen, Shelley, Colleen, Jill, Lynda, Christopher and family.
We were saddened to learn of the death of John. We have fond memories of him and of your family, during our time in Queens County. In our minds eye we can see John sitting with you as a family in the sanctuary of the Liverpool Baptist Church. We recall his conscientious service as the church treasurer.
We remember how he stepped out in faith to begin a computer business and how he cheerfully gave our son Graeme opportunities to experiment with computer technology. John’s encouragement to Graeme was one of the factors leading our son to become an electrical engineer.
John contributed resources so that for a time the Sunday worship at Liverpool Baptist could be broadcast on the internet.
Family was a priority to John. We recognise the time, love and commitment he invested in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His devotion as a husband to Colleen stood out.
When John did not agree with something he graciously provided an alternative point of view. Often he was correct.
We are grateful that John put his trust in the Lord Jesus, the One who said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me though they die yet shall they live.” John 11:25
We are remembering you in prayer.

Colleen and family,
It is sad indeed to learn of John’s death. Ever smiling and ever helpful in a field foreign to me, he kept my office and home connected to the ether with his knowledge and skill. He must have known just how much he was appreciated by those whom he served. His loss to his family will be profound. We will also remember him and his contributions to his family, friends and community. He will be missed.

I had the privilege of working with John at Teleglobe Mill Village 1993-1995. John’s dedication to computers and his work ethics were 2nd to none. He was always kind, polite, and eager to help we new employees anytime we asked. I was happy to learn he opened his own computer shop post Teleglobe and I knew for certain it would be a success. I can still see him at his work desk proudly wearing a Montreal Canadian’s jersey. I fondly remember the story when we was on the same airplane with members of the Montreal Canadians. John made my days at Teleglobe very enjoyable. Deepest condolences to John’s Family. Sincerely, Glen Veinot Hammonds Plains.
