OICKLE – Elva, of Caledonia, Queens County, passed away peacefully in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia on Sunday, May 23, 2021.
Born in Hemford, Elva was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Freda (Smith) Uhlman.
Elva worked at the North Queens Nursing Home, the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission, Sears and her true passion, the Bunne Shoppe, making pizzas, sweets and fresh loaves of bread. Mom and her partner, Steve, enjoyed daily drives, the odd road trip and took joy in a quiet life at home, watching TV and snuggling with their little dog Sasha.
Surviving are her companion of 41 years, Steve Mansfield; her daughters Kathy (Vaughn) Rawding of Caledonia, Betty Oickle of Harmony, Toddy (Gary) Mansfield of Caledonia. Grandchildren Cole Rawding (Alicia), Cody Rawding (Christa), Channing Carver (Avery), Miranda Mansfield (Jordan). Great grandchildren Aprilia, Ravenna, Sullivan and Finnigan Rawding.
Her sister Gaylene (Eric) Veinot of Conquerall Mills and her brother Joseph (Evelyn) of Bridgewater.
Besides her parents, Elva was predeceased by her husband Robert and her son in law Walter Carver.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in Highland Cemetery, Hibernia Road, Caledonia.
