Gordon “Gordie” Stanley Wong

Wong, Gordon Stanley, 77, of Liverpool, Queens County passed away peacefully at Queens General Hospital on Feb. 23, 2024.
Born in Liverpool, Gordon “Gordie” was the son of the late Kim and Lily (Fong) Wong.
Gordie was born in Liverpool, but spent his youth from the age of 1 until his early teens, growing up just outside of Hong Kong, before returning to Canada with some of his siblings to attend school in Liverpool.
Gordie had a passion and gift for cooking. This took him around the world! He was the chef on many sea vessels, including the Bluenose 2. His amazing culinary skills also brought local fame to the family restaurant, Wong’s, located in downtown Liverpool. “Best Chinese Food in the Province”. The food service industry also drew him to work for CN rail and Expo 67 in Montreal, where he had the honor of serving Princess Anne of the Royal Family.
Gordie was also a very talented handyman. Very much a DYIer before it was a thing. He enjoyed carpentry, figuring out how things worked, and working with his hands. He was always very proud of his projects.
Gordie was a very dedicated husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He was so very proud of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. He loved them very deeply as they did him. He always had
a funny story or joke to make everyone laugh and smile. His personality was very infectious.

He was also loved very dearly by his sister Joyce and brother in-law Samuel (Fong), his sister Anna and brother in-law Ben (Lam) and his sister Betty and brother in-law Ken (Burrows) as well as many nieces and nephews who hold his memory very dear to their hearts.
