Zoë Elizabeth Winsor

Zoë was quite simply, yet profoundly, a gift. A gift wrapped in love, integrity, intelligence, loyalty and beauty. A gift bestowed upon her family, her friends, her colleagues and her students. A gift that will only continue to grow and spread joy, kindness and love through her babies Maeve, Quinn and Finn. A gift that will forever remain in our hearts.
Zoë graduated from Liverpool Regional High and Saint Thomas University. Her teaching career found her back in Liverpool where she met and fell fiercely in love with and married Andrew. Theirs was a union woven and tightly knitted together with love, respect, caring, laughter and adventure. They were a unit of one. Zoë’s love for her children was deep and one only had to look at her attention to each of their birthdays. Maeve, Quinn and Finn always knew that their birthday was going to be special and would sit with Zoë discussing their themes with her, often months in advance. Zoë always planned and ensured that their day was celebrated to the fullest.
Their mutual quest for adventure took them to Nain, Labrador where Zoë would experience, perhaps, the most happiness of her short life. In early 2019, Zoë and Andrew and the children packed up their belongings and embarked on their northern journey. There, Zoë made her presence known both within the community and at Jens Haven Memorial School. She taught and guided as a substitute teacher and learned from her students. The culture, the environment and most importantly the people of her new community invigorated and thrilled her beyond compare. To the people of Nain we extend a warm “Nakummek.” It was there Zoë mastered the art of travelling by skidoo and her preferred method of travel, the side-by-side! Each morning before Maeve left for school, Zoë would always say “Be kind and have a great day.” A mantra that, to honour Zoë, we should all embrace.
Blessed to have known her and left to mourn and celebrate her are her husband Andrew, her children Maeve, Quinn and Finn, her mother and father Jane and Vaughn (Mullen), her beloved brothers Gavin and Ryan, her parents-in-law Dwight and Isabel, her sisters and brothers in-law Holly, Catherine and Paul, Sarah and Ryan, nieces and nephews, and her uncle and many and much loved aunts and cousins.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Service, Liverpool. The celebration of Zoë’s life will take place at a time and location to be announced once the scourge of Covid has passed. An e-transfer donation may be made in Zoe’s memory at rememberingzoe@gmail.com. These donations will be sent to Nain and given to the charity the most in need. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.chandlersfuneral.com
Zoë and her entire family received overwhelming support and compassion from neighbors, friends, the community of schools, the RCMP and the entire staff of Queens General Hospital. Thank You!
