William Thorburne

With saddened hearts we announce that William James Thorburne "Bill", 78, years old peacefully passed away on May 30 2026 at Queens Manor.

Bill was the only son of the late Douglas and Elsie Thorburne.

At the early age of 15 he quit school, moved to Hammonds Plains and worked at a grocery store for years. He then moved to Halifax where he worked as a taxi driver for a couple of years. He then went on to work as a security guard up until he retired. Bill returned to Liverpool to visit whenever he had the chance. When he was an occupant of Precision Health, Halifax, he wanted to come home for the remainder of his life. Little did we know he would be at Queens Manor for only 3 days before he took his last breath.

Bill leaves behind three sisters; Marie Hubley of Liverpool, Sandra (Allan) Parnell of White Point, Carol (Dave) Harding of Shelburne, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife Jean, his second wife, Diane, his infant brother Charles, his step-father John Flannigan and many aunts and uncles.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers' Funeral Home in Liverpool. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice and online condolences may be made at www.chandlersfuneral.com.
