William James Hansen

Hansen - Wm. J., “Billy”, 66, of Hunts Point, NS passed away suddenly in the QE II Health Science Centre, Halifax on Thursday, February 5, 2026 with his family by his side.

Born in Weston, ON, Billy was a son of the late Alan and Gala (Whynot) Manthorne and the late Percy Hansen.

Billy was a pipefitter and welder working for various fish plants, Steel and Engine Products Limited (STENPRO) and the Halifax Shipyards and was a truck driver. He loved music, playing and attending music jams, playing darts and Pass the Ace as well as hunting and fishing.

Billy is survived by his wife Debra (Huphman); his daughter Rebecca (Derrick) Carver of Port Mouton, his son James (Tara) of Hunts Point. Grandchildren Ethan and Kelly Carver and Jayce and Zoey Hansen. His sisters Sharon (Johnny) Rhyno of Milton, Virginia (Phillip) Lorenzo of ON, Pam (Brian) Foley of Milton. His brothers Alan (Karen) Manthorne of Liverpool and Eddie (Beulah) Jollimore of NB.

Besides his parents, Billy was predeceased by his sister Barbara.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral home, Liverpool, NS. At Billy’s request, there will be no funeral service. Donations may be made in Billy's memory to Queens County Ground Search and Rescue or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made below.
