Mooers, William “Buckey" Andrew, 69, of Milton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 in the comfort of home with his loving wife, Cindy, by his side, exactly as he wished.
Born in Liverpool, Buckey was a son of the late Clarence “Bubby” and Hazel (Labrador) Mooers.
Buckey was a man of many talents but made his living mostly by doing carpentry or scallop fishing. He also carried on the family legacy for art with his stunning and imaginative antler carvings and jewelry.
Buckey loved the great outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing. He treasured his trips to the Cape Breton mountains hunting with his family.
He was loved by many which was apparent by how many visitors dropped in to his basement daily. Buckey was an amazing story teller like his father, and, in true fisherman style, told some tall tales in his basement. He will be greatly missed by many friends on School Lane especially his life long friend Leroy and his brother/nephew Chuck. The lane will never be the same.
Buckey is survived by his loving wife of 17 years Cindy; his daughter Angie (Derek) of Baker’s Settlement.. His son Travis at home. His grandchildren Jess (Robyn) Westhaver and Alex Westhaver. His sisters Cherry (Larry) Whynot of Liverpool, Ardie (Keith) Whynacht of Sandy Cove, Cindy (Raymond) Dolliver of Liverpool. His brothers Sheldon Labrador of East Port Medway and Junior (Pam) Oickle of Milton. Also his mother in law Charlotte White of Milton.
Besides his parents, Buckey was predeceased by his sister Mae Schrader and his brothers Jack Mooers and Frank Wentzell.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in Milton Community Cemetery. No flowers, donation to a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made below.
