It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Victor Eugene Anthony in Queens General Hospital on September 17, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Liverpool, Victor was a son of the late Eugene and Verna (Rafuse) Anthony.
Victor was a pillar of the Mill Village community, known for his unwavering dedication, warm spirit, and generous heart. He began his lifelong service with the Mill Village Fire Department as a young teenager in 1960, volunteering faithfully for over six decades. In 2021, he was honoured as an honorary member marking an incredible 65 years of commitment to public safety and community service.
Victor was a man of many passions. He found joy in hunting and was especially known for his delicious sugar and molasses cookies, which he lovingly baked and shared with friends and neighbours. In his earlier years, he enjoyed snowmobiling, calling bingo, making sauerkraut, watching old movies, and tending to a herd of up to 18 cattle. He cherished time spent at the family cabin on River Road; a place filled with laughter, stories, and memories.
For 45 years, Victor also served as a school bus driver, safely transporting generations of children and becoming a familiar and friendly face in their daily lives. He enjoyed spending time with his lifelong buddies and leaves behind many cousins, close friends, and neighbours who will miss him dearly.
He was predeceased by his brother Doug, with whom he shared many fond memories.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held in the New Charleston Cemetery Thursday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m., celebrating the lives of both Victor and his brother Doug. A reception will be held at the Mill Village Fire Hall following the graveside service. No flowers, donations may be made to the Mill Village and District Fire Department. Online condolences may be made below.
