Valerie Viola Baker

Baker - Valerie V., 75, of Port Medway, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool on Thursday, July 17, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Chester Basin, Valerie was a daughter of the late Clarence and Leona (Dauphinee) Bezanson.

Valerie worked at various occupations such as selling Tupperware and Avon, home care for seniors and bookkeeping for the former Val’s Seafoods. She enjoyed playing Mahjong, attending car shows and traveling with her late husband Willis. Christmas was a special time of year for Valerie and her snowman collection will be fondly remembered by family and friends. She was a loyal, fun loving and mischievous person who loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Valerie is survived by her daughters Monica of Port Medway, Rhonda (Richard) LaPlante of Birchtown; her grandsons Xavier LaPlante and Harper Laplante (Isabelle). Her sister Bernice (Thomas) Nauss of Chester Basin and her brother Lester (Donna) of Chester Basin.

Besides her parents, Valerie was predeceased by her husband Willis, her sister Juanita Collicut and her brother Ernest.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Carroll Baker Mem'ries Centre, Port Medway, NS. Reverend James Haughn officiating. Reception to follow at the Port Medway Fire Hall. No flowers. Donations in Valerie's memory may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation. Online condolences may be made below.
