Teresa Mary Cecil Clarke

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Teresa Mary Cecil Clarke on July 31, 2026 in Liverpool at the age of 63. She died at home, on her own terms, with the full support of her family and friends.

Teresa grew up in Liverpool surrounded by family, friends, dogs and horses. In her early 20s, she headed off to explore Europe, first living in Portugal and then settling in the south of England for the best part of the next 35 years. There she loved to ride her horse, Taz, and walk with her dogs through the beautiful English countryside. She was an avid cyclist and participated in a number of long distance rides, always pushing herself to perform her very best. In the UK, Teresa met wonderful people, many of whom become cherished life-long friends.

Teresa moved back to Liverpool in 2018 to be closer to her family and purchased a house in the town’s centre. With her love of expressive art and ardent support of local artisans and vendors, she turned this residence into a charming, welcoming home that exuded warmth and acceptance. A social gathering was Teresa’s specialty, particularly for anyone new moving into town. She never wanted anyone to be alone and went out of her way to welcome and connect people to the community.

She continued with her cycling, became a devoted pickleball player and loved to walk her dogs - Flea and Beanie – along Nova Scotia’s south shore. Teresa took many wonderful photos during her hikes that truly showcased this province’s beauty.

Teresa was predeceased by her mother, Margaret (Peggy) Clarke and is survived by her father, Christopher Clarke, her sister Julia (Bradley) Watt, niece Claudia (Brendan) Watt, and nephew Ian (Sydney) Watt.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Asha Dawson, Cheryl Selig, Karen Paris and Suzanne Vickery for their tremendous support during the very difficult time. As per her request, there will be no formal gathering to celebrate Teresa’s life but she would be honoured if you thought of her the next time you support a local artisan or find yourself in a place of natural beauty.
