BAKER – Sheila Olive, 84, of Liverpool, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Surf Lodge Nursing Home, Lockeport, Nova Scotia.
Born in Liverpool, Sheila was the daughter of the late Frederick and Gladys (Oickle) Jollimore.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends, including her daughter, Crystal, and son-in-law, Calvin; granddaughter, Erin, and Erin’s husband, Glenn; step-granddaughters, Tara Lee Brannen and Chastity (Francis) MacLaughlin; and sister-in-law, Marnie Hatt.
A fixture of many local businesses during her working life, Sheila worked at the New System Laundry, Stedmans Department Store, and local convenience stores before retiring from West End Kwik-Way. Sheila loved to walk and was frequently seen around town with her late husband, Billy (d. 2011).
She enjoyed keeping in touch with her family by phone, calling her brother and sisters. She loved her daily calls to Jack Macumber and Marnie. Sheila always enjoyed shopping and looked forward to her shopping trips to Halifax with Marnie and her husband, Allie. She loved going to yard sales with both Crystal and Calvin, and Marnie. She was a thoughtful and generous gift-giver at Christmas and other holidays.
An avid gardener, she loved seeing the flowers bloom in her yard and was very protective of her rhododendrons, even when they dwarfed nearby trees. Calvin always teased her about cutting them down, and she was quick to tell him what she thought of that.
Sheila was a very caring and protective mother and grandmother and was so proud of both Crystal and Erin’s accomplishments and loved spoiling them. Sheila was always delighted to hear from Erin on her globetrotting trips; she loved receiving postcards and trinkets from her travels. Crystal is quoted as saying, “I will miss my phone calls with mom. I checked in with her throughout the day, sometimes 8 or 10 times, just to make sure she was ok and for her to know that I was ok. I miss those calls the most; they don’t replace a visit or a hug, but I always got an ‘I love you’ before she hung up. She was awesome and stubborn, but the best mom.”
Sheila is survived by her daughter Crystal (Calvin) Brannen of White Point, N.S., granddaughter Dr. Erin Spinney (Dr. Glenn Iceton) of Saint John, N.B., step-granddaughters Tara Lee Brannen of Toronto, and Chastity (Francis) MacLaughlin of Cochrane, Alberta; sisters Lilly (Jens) Karlsen of Hunts Point, N.S., Donna Conrad of Liverpool, N.S. and Becky Long of
Burnaby, B.C.; brother Eddie (Beulah) Jollimore of Fredericton, N.B, sister-in-law Marnie Hatt of Liverpool, N.S., and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sheila was predeceased by her husband, Billy, and her sister, Rosemary Wood.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, N.S. A graveside service for Sheila will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Surf Lodge, Lockeport, N.S. or a charity of choice. Online Condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Surf Lodge Nursing Home in Lockeport for the compassion and care shown to Sheila during her stay.
