John Bertram Roy

ROY – John B.,  72, of Port Mouton, Queens County, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, December 20, 2014.

Born in Port Mouton, he was a son of the late Orville and Muriel (Williams) Roy.

John was a fisherman all his life. He enjoyed working with his hands making hand made lobster traps and hammocks among other things with his best friend Wilfred. He also enjoyed hunting, baseball, wrestling and boxing, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a considerate, offering and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Smith); his sons Jeff (Shannon Spraque) of Liverpool and Todd of Port Mouton. Grandchildren Brett, Colby and Bailey and great granddaughter Lyla, his sisters Patsy Allison of Port Mouton and Hollis Bowers (Ralph Baker) Port Mouton.

He was predeceased by his sister Mary Mazie and brothers Leonard, Bobby and Melvin.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool where a memorial service will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Steven Hopper officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the West Queens Recreational Centre or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
