It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Roxie Elizabeth Johnson, 93, who passed away peacefully October 8th, 2026, at Surf Lodge in Lockeport. Roxie leaves behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, and love.
Born in Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Laurie and Dorothy (MacKinnon) Anthony.
Roxie spent many years working at Seamone’s Bakery in Liverpool, where she became part of the local community. Later in life, she began a career with Canada Post, serving as Postmistress in Port Mouton. Through her years of work, she built friendships with the people around her and became a familiar face to many in the community.
Roxie was quick witted and you never had to wonder what she was thinking. She never minced words and would let you know exactly what was on her mind.
She loved her family and friends but more than anything, her greatest joy in life besides her late husband Ingram was her great grandson, Kale. She lived for Kale, and the love she had for him was truly unmatched. He brought her happiness, pride, and a purpose that meant more to her than words could ever express.
She also cherished the simple pleasures in life. She never asked for much and always enjoyed visits with her good friends Lennie and Nancy. She couldn’t wait to have a good gossip session with them. Lennie always had the “news”.
Roxie will be remembered for the life she lived, the people she touched, and most importantly, the love she gave to those closest to her. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she leaves behind will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
Roxie is survived by her son Gilbert (Laura Lee) Johnson. Grandchildren, Jack (Avis) Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Keltie Fortier and Emilee (Frank) Feniak. Great Grandchildren, Kale, Damon, Dustin, Everleigh, Celeste, Lilly, Elise, and Silas.
Besides her parents, Roxie was predeceased by her loving husband Ingram, son Larry, sisters Isilda, Helen, Edna, Myra and brother Lawrence.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the cemetery located on William Croft Road in Danesville.
Roxie’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks and deepest gratitude to the staff at Surf Lodge for the incredible care, kindness, and compassion they showed Roxie during her time there, especially during her final days. The family is truly grateful for the comfort, support, and care the staff provided. Your care and thoughtfulness will always be remembered and appreciated.
