WAMBOLT - Roger “Rod” Richard, 84, of Milton, Queens County passed away peacefully at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.

Born in Milton, he was a son of the late Cecil and Beatrice (Muree) Wamboldt.

Rod was a member of the Royal Highland Regiment of Canada Black Watch; 2nd Battalion Peacekeeper in Cypress from 1962 to 1968. Rod worked as a welder in different jobs over the years, retiring from Stenpro, Liverpool, N.S.

Rod was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Rod was a life member of the Nova Scotia Guide Association. Rod and Geraldine spent many summers enjoying camping at Hibernia Campground. He was always up for a good game of horseshoes and enjoyed wrestling and a good old Western from his couch. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Rod will be missed by his family and friends.

Rod is survived by his daughter Tanya (Scott) of Truro; son Steven (Frances) of Liverpool; grandchildren Jacob of Halifax and Talia (Chris Farr) of Truro; sisters Marion Gardner of Ontario, Kathleen Yuill of Alberta; brothers Don (Gail) of Ontario, Lloyd (Patty) of Milton as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Rod was predeceased by his loving wife Geraldine (Anthony); sister Inez Eaton and brothers James “Bud”, Douglas and George.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, N.S. A graveside memorial service will take place Friday, June 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. And will be held in the Milton Community Cemetery, Milton, N.S. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the IWK or a charity of choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Blackadar, Dr. MacKinnon and the staff of the Medical floor of Queens General Hospital, Liverpool, N.S. for their care and compassion.

Thank you to friend Paulette Wamboldt for always being a great helping hand and support for Dad. Lastly a heart felt thank you to Uncle Lloyd for his support and care given to Dad.
