Ringer: Wilfred Alan

Ringer – Wilfred Alan, age 82, of Kempt, Queens County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5th, 2023, in North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia.
Born in Northfield, Queens County, Wilfred was a son of the late Weston and Inez (Hirtle) Ringer.
He worked for many years as an accountant for Armstrong Brothers (Armbro) Construction Company in Brampton, Ontario, until the summer of 1973, when he moved his family back to Kempt, NS. There he bought the local service station and proceeded to run a very successful business. He was well liked, and his service station was a great gathering place for many people in the community. He was an excellent mechanic, and took in vehicles from across Nova Scotia for body work and paint jobs. He continued to run the service station under the name “Ringer’s Garage” after Esso pulled out, until 2020, when failing health caused him to resign.
He loved to hunt, fish, camp, and travel. He especially loved his Goldwing motorcycles, it was his favorite way to travel both sides of the border. He also loved putting a great many miles on dune buggies, snowmobiles, and 4 wheelers.
He was a loving family man, his children’s hero, and loved seeing his grand and great-grandchildren, they always brought a smile to his face.
Wilfred is survived by his loving wife, Lucy; daughters, Paula Ringer, and Pamela Sutherland, both of Dartmouth; son, Steven (Karen Soeder), of Dartmouth; stepdaughter, Amanda (Jon) Underhill, of Dartmouth; stepsons, Garret Acker, of Harmony, Nathan Acker, of Maitland Bridge. Grandchildren, Kayla, Gordon “AJ”, Keigan, Brycen, Cierra and Amelia. Great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Ella; brother, Robert “Bob” (Marlene), of Five Island Lake.
The family will receive friends at Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, on Thursday, November 9th, 2023. A graveside service for Wilfred will be held on Friday, November 10th, at 1:00 pm from Maplewood Cemetery, Maitland Bridge, followed by a reception at the Maitland Bridge Community Hall.
