Violet Marie Rhyno

Rhyno, Violet Marie 73 of Charleston.

We are very sad to say our earthly goodbyes to our Mom, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and most recently great grandmother. Violet passed away peacefully Sunday, January 21st at Queens General Hospital with most of her family by her side.
Born June 9, 1950, Violet was the daughter of the late Henry and Alice (Whynot) Lohnes.
She enjoyed her family and adored her grandchildren and we all feel so lucky that she was able to meet her great grandson, Jack. She also truly enjoyed her fur babies.
She loved to bake and cook and contribute to any local community events and her baked goods and recipes were enjoyed by all.
Her earliest employment was being a nanny and housekeeper for her great friends Shirley and Royce “Hap” Melanson. After having her three daughters come to school age she chose to go back to work at Medway Mud Puddle with her longtime best friend Helen Whynacht and Joan Trimm. She also somehow in between, with her friend Heather Anthony knit for Jagman to help with the cost of raising a family. The next step was the one that impacted our lives the most. She became caregiver to Faye and Kyle McLellan. This whole family, Chuck, Linda, Faye and Kyle became our family.
In her spare time, which wasn’t plentiful, she would always have a pot of tea on the stove and many friends sitting at our kitchen table. She was truly loved and she loved back. She will always be loved and never forgotten and we know she, as the angel that she was to us, will be welcomed into heaven by her Mom and Dad, our Dad (Ernie), Kyle, Lalia, Freeman, Lambert, Joan, Tim and so many others.
She is survived by her daughters Dawn Croft (Jamie), Angela Rhyno (Kyle Oickle), Kim Saulnier (Scott), her companion Gary Downton, grandchildren Adam Levy, Ryan Croft (Angelic Whynot), Zackery Saulnier, Logan Croft (Morgan Hebb and Violet), Hailey Saulnier and her first great grandson Jack Croft, her brother Bob Lohnes, her brother Ray Lohnes, and all of her many loved nieces and nephews. She loved them all including the special bond she had with her niece Judy Conrad and her lifelong best friend Helen Whynacht. Special mention of Tyler Dagley (Cassie, Luke and Maddox) and of course Ryker.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A small graveside ceremony will be held at the New Charleston Cemetery,Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 11am where she will rest near her husband of many years, Ernest Rhyno. A celebration of life will be held afterwards at the Mill Village Firehall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to S.H.A.I.D. Animal shelter or charity of your choice.
