Raymond Clifford Boudreau

d. May 10, 2026

BOUDREAU - Raymond Clifford, 69, previously of Milton, Queens County, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2026 in Surf Lodge, Lockeport, Nova Scotia. Raymond suffered a stroke in the fall of 2010 which led to declining health. Ray was in bed in the comfort of his room, after having his favorite dessert; chocolate pudding with extra whipped cream. He was surrounded by the caring nurses of Surf Lodge Nursing Home, where he spent his final years, with a beautiful view of the harbour. His one-of-a-kind sense of humour lasted until his final days; everybody who knew him had a unique nickname.

Born in Liverpool, he was a son of the late Raymond and Myrtle (Berriman) Boudreau.

Raymond loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing mainly in Milton and Caledonia; much of this time shared with his brother Barry. He also spent a lot of time on his ATV around the yards and fire roads. Raymond had a skill for fly-tying, crafting several remaining cases full of flies.

Ray was a huge fan of wrestling, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Atlanta Braves; sometimes showing this off with his enormous collection of ball caps. Above all, he enjoyed his tv shows and visiting with his son, Matthew.

Raymond’s passion was softball. In his younger days he was a player, but he become widely recognized for being an umpire. He became the Umpire-in-Chief of the South Shore in 1998, and also was awarded Most Improved Umpire of the Year in the same location and year. Also in 1998, Ray was an umpire for the Slo-Pitch Provincial Championships in Amherst Nova Scotia. Raymond’s greatest accomplishment was being selected to travel to Toronto in 2000, to be an umpire for the National Championships. And in 2009, he received the Long Service Award, for going ‘above the call of duty’ as an umpire.

Raymond is survived his son Matthew who Raymond ceaselessly let know he was proud of; sister Debra Spinney; brother Barry; niece Dawn and nephew Barry; two great nieces and three great nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the directions of Chandlers’ Funeral home, Liverpool Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Liverpool Baseball Club. Online condolences may be made below.

The family would like to thank the staff and Doctors for all of their compassion and care given to Raymond for his stay at Surf Lodge, Lockeport, Nova Scotia.
