Phyllis Anne Chouinard

d. May 7, 2026

CHOUINARD, Phyllis Anne (Joudrey) - Age 79 of Liverpool, NS passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026 at Queens General Hospital after an unexpected short battle with cancer.

Born in Blockhouse, NS, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Eva Pearle (Schleyer) Joudrey. She had fond memories growing up in the small community of Blockhouse with her family and friends for the first half of her life, before remarrying and moving to Liverpool.

Phyllis was a woman of strong faith and read the Bible daily. She graciously shared the wisdom and insight with those around her. She was the epitome of grace and dignity in the way she carried herself through life, whatever the circumstance. It was her unwavering faith that kept her strong through any challenges, especially during the last few months of her life. She strived to see the good in everyone and every situation, offering kind words and encouragement.

Phyllis was an avid reader with an impressive memory. She was gifted in all things creative. A talented artist, writer, interior decorator, photographer, seamstress, cook and baker but there was no occupation she enjoyed more than being a homemaker, mother and wife. She was the heart of her home. Her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment were her five children and being a mother for the past 60 years meant everything to her. She delighted in being a grandmother and cherished any time spent with them. Phyllis enjoyed nature and the beauty of the four seasons, often the inspiration behind some of her paintings, photography and poetry. She loved flowers, especially red roses and mayflowers. Cardinals visited often in her backyard and that always brought her joy. Swimming in the ocean was a favourite pastime in her younger years, as she was a natural swimmer.

She could bring colours and decor together to create the most beautiful, immaculate home that was inviting and warm, whatever the size or space. Decorating for the holidays was always a joyous event but Christmas was her favourite. She spent hours decorating the most majestic Christmas tree each year. She loved fashion and anything that sparkled. And although shy, Phyllis had a beautiful singing voice. She loved music and dance, especially the 1950s Rock and Roll. She knew the lyrics to hundreds of songs, but Elvis Presley remained her favourite.

Phyllis will be remembered for her selfless love, guidance, wisdom, kindness and patience that has touched so many lives. She had a profound impact on everyone who was blessed to know her and will be missed beyond measure.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Bob Chouinard. Her children, Jerry Pittman (Sangrawee), Marina Titus (Noel), Anita Pittman, Lisa (Dallas) Penner and Brian (Ester) Pittman. Six grandchildren, Ocean Titus (Colton) and Brooke Titus (Connor), Antonio and Jazmine Pittman, and Dylan and Victoria Penner. Four brothers; Doug (Sharyn), Stephen (Linda), Michael (Kathy) and Kenny Joudrey (Kim), along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chandler's Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13th at Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 569 Oakhill Road with Pastor Percy Lake presiding. Interment will take place at The Garden of Rest Cemetery for immediate family only following the reception.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Queens General Hospital Foundation, Blessed Hope Baptist Church, Canadian Red Cross and the Canadian Cancer Society.
