Peggy Ann Meisner

d. April 18, 2026

On April 18, 2026, our dear mother, Peggy Ann Meisner (nee Todd), wife of the late C. Arnold Meisner, passed.

Born in West Dalhousie, NS. Peggy was a daughter of the late Mark and Gladys (Swift) Todd. Born premature at under three pounds, Peggy was bundled and kept warm; placed in the left over warmth from the wood stove. Peggy defeated all odds with having had an amazing long and mostly healthy life.

Mom met the love of her life, Arnold, in West Dalhousie. He was working for Bowaters at the time but soon was being transferred to Cape Breton so they married early, making their very long trip and adventure to Hunters Mountain.

Once Peggy’s children reached high school age, she worked for various local businesses in Liverpool including Eaton’s, Sears, Mabel’s and Liverpool Ladies Wear. Other activities included Kinettes, volunteering, Liverpool Curling Club as well as winter time cross country skiing with their great group of friends. Late winter or early spring would find Mom and dad enjoying their time in Florida where there were also lots of good times with both old and new friends.

Our mother was a wonderful hostess, entertaining friends throughout the years along with many guests from England and Norway who were connected with Arnold’s lumber sales work. Peggy always made sure everyone was tended to and happy.

In the early 70’s, Arnold and Peggy bought a lot in Greenfield on Ponhook Lake where Arnold built a cottage. This was the beginning of many beautiful summer times with both family and friends who all played a very import ant part in both of their lives. Mom always made sure there were baskets of beautiful flowers adorning the cottage. A favorite pass time was making sure the birds were well fed and learning the names of any new species that visited.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Linda (Ross), son Brad (Louanne), grandchildren Craig, Krista, Evan and Jessie; great grandchildren Colin, Caiden, Liam, Kierra, Max, Ben and Joe. Her sisters Verna Bishop and Donna (Bud) Wefer as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her husband C. Arnold, her sister Mary Lou Marshall and brothers in law Allen Bishop and Russell Marshall.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, May 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion Cemetery, Payzant Street, Liverpool. Donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com

Peggy’s family gives many thanks to the wonderful, caring staff at Parklands at the Gardens where Peggy resided and was loved for nine and a half years. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.
