Michael Shane Atkinson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Shane Atkinson. Born in Berwick, Nova Scotia, Shane lived and worked across Canada. With his friendly personality, he made lifelong friends wherever he went.

After a life-changing car accident, Shane settled in Liverpool to be closer to his family. He found solace in nature, the family garden and watching his favourite teams, Boston Bruins and Toronto Blue Jays, on television.

Shane’s passion was music, listening to Mott the Hoople, Ten Years After and other classic rock bands. With his encyclopaedic knowledge of music, he loved talking about his favourite albums, musicians, songs, and album cover designs.

We will miss Shane’s unique sense of humour, his love of good food – especially his BBQs – and watching old movies with him. Most of all, we will miss his generosity and kindness.

For their treatment and care of Shane, we want to thank Dr James MacKinnon and PA Andrew Todd in Liverpool, and Dr Edward Joy and the nurses in the Med-Surg Department at South Shore Regional Hospital.

Shane is survived by his mother Peggy and sister Lisa, Liverpool, and sister Melissa (Alick), Halifax.

There will be a cremation under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. At Shane’s request, there will be a family service, where he will be laid to rest beside his father, John Atkinson.
