The loving family of Maxx George Whynot, 31, of Halifax, Nova Scotia are deeply saddened to announce his passing on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Raised in Middlefield, Maxx was the last child of his adoring parents, Patricia Elizabeth (Dunn) Whynot and the late Kevin Wayne Whynot. From an early age, he was devoted to his large, raucous family. As the youngest of six, he had no shortage of guardians and playmates eager to go on adventures with their baby brother. His parents and five older siblings watched with tremendous pride as Maxx grew from a sweet, spirited boy into a kind and caring young man.
He graduated from North Queens Rural High School and the Nova Scotia Community College, where he completed the carpentry program. He went from building block towers on his bedroom floor to serving on crews for major projects in the Halifax area. His passion for building was boundless, a subject he could share for hours, aided by photos and scribbled diagrams. Maxx’s interests also extended to exercise and fitness; music, including guitars and drums; and working on cars, trucks, and other vehicles. He was overjoyed to become Uncle Maxx to his nephew Hayden and niece Shylo, a role he cherished.
Maxx’s family will always remember his bright smile, infectious laugh, and goofy sense of humour, continually searching for silly clips or gifs to enliven one’s day. Beneath his lighthearted exterior, he was a strong and hopeful person who worked hard to manage the symptoms of epilepsy throughout his twenties.
Maxx is survived by his mother, Patricia, and siblings Nicholas of Middlefield, NS; Ben of Ottawa, Ontario; Emily (Rod) of Sydney, Cape Breton; Corey (Lindsay) of Windsor Forks, NS; and Ryan of Middlefield, NS.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. A graveside memorial service will be held for Maxx on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Middlefield-Pleasantfield Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Epilepsy Canada to improve diagnosis and treatments for individuals living with this condition.
