Lloyd Burton Hunt

d. January 11, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd Burton Hunt, who died in hospital on January 11, 2026, at the age of 74, following complications from a fall.

Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Lloyd was the son of the late Bruce and Hildreth Hunt. He grew up in Greenfield, where he developed a deep connection to the land, his community, and the simple joys of rural life. Lloyd spent many years working in the woods alongside his father, learning the value of hard work and lending a hand when needed. He remained active in the Greenfield community throughout his life, contributing through his involvement in the church and by caring for the grounds with dedication and pride.

Lloyd met Lorraine Connolly in an unexpected but meaningful way—at the hospital, where both of their mothers were receiving cancer treatments. From that difficult time, grew a deep companionship and love. When Lorraine later moved to Greenfield, the two of them quickly became beloved members of the community. Their home was warm and welcoming, filled with tea visits, good conversations, and many memorable potlucks—especially on Christmas Eve. Together, they created a home where laughter, friendship, and kindness were always at the centre.

Lloyd also had a soft spot for animals. Over the years, he and Lorraine shared their home with several cherished cats and took great joy in feeding the deer, birds, and even the occasional raccoon that wandered through their yard.

In his later years, Lloyd faced many health challenges. He was often said to have “nine lives like a cat,” and although those years were difficult, he met them with quiet determination and the steady support of those who loved him. Lloyd will be remembered with love for his quiet strength, his great laugh, and the deep love he had for Lorraine.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS. A graveside service to honour both Lloyd and Lorraine will be held in the summer, giving family and friends the opportunity to gather and celebrate their lives together.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who cared for both Lorraine and Lloyd. Your kindness and support allowed them to remain in their own home, surrounded by the comfort and familiarity they cherished so deeply.
