Leslie Carol Rhyno

It is with great sadness that the family of Leslie Carol (Soper) Rhyno announce her passing on June 29, 2025 at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

Born in Liverpool, Leslie was a daughter of the late Pearl R. (Whynot) Soper and Captain Leslie O. Porter.

Leslie dedicated her career to the art of hairstyling, bringing beauty, and dedication to countless clients. She possessed a gift for making people feel good about themselves, offering not just a new hairstyle, but also a boost of confidence and self-esteem, and along the way forming great friendships. Leslie also thought highly of her own hairstyles ensuring she was up to date on the latest style, ensuring she had her hair products and scissors at the hospital with her. Leslie instructed her family not to include her age in her obituary, stating “Don’t put my age. I’m ageless.” She was a true gem and will be deeply missed by all.

Leslie took great pride and is survived by her sons Gayln of Liverpool, and Bevan (Melinda Chandler) of New Minas. Granddaughters Justine (Evan) Slauenwhite and Rachel Chandler. Great-Granddaughter four month old Amelia Slauenwhite, who Leslie referred to as ‘my little blueberry’. In addition, Leslie leaves behind her niece Carol-Ann Burke; sister, Pat Everette; and brother Bill Soper; and many other nieces and nephews. Special mention and thank you to Leslie’s best friend of 70 plus years, Dianne Hurshman, for providing a friendship like no other.

Leslie was predeceased by husband and best friend of 55 years, Donald M. Rhyno; sister Myrna, and brother Alan.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. At Leslie’s request, there will be no public service. No flowers. Donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Foundation. Online condolences may be made below.
