It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of a remarkable person, Lena Evangeline Oickle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend on May 7th 2026 at the age of 86 years. Born in South Brookfield, Queens County to the late Leander and Mary(Waterman) Crooker, she attended Teacher’s College in Truro, NS and taught for several years. Lena dedicated her life to her family, her community and her faith. She lived a life filled with grace, kindness, laughter and devotion to her family and friends. Lena was well known for her skills as a seamstress and avid gardener. She spent her leisure time tending her gardens, quilting, baking, and meetings with her “Crafty Critters Group”. She enjoyed shopping for interesting finds with her husband Allan. Lena especially loved spending time at their cottage on Ponhook Lake in the summer. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Allan Oickle of Milton, daughter Linda(Robert) MacDonald of Lower Sackville, son Mark(Karen) Oickle of Milton, daughter Paula(Myles) Winters of Milton, and son Jonathan of Milton. In addition there are eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Lena’s warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit will be forever missed by all who knew her.
There will be a private grave side ceremony at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at Queens General Hospital.
